What Kind Of Giver Are You?

Written by Harold Herring.

Martin Luther once said:

“People go through three conversions in their Christian faith: their head, their heart, and their pocketbook – unfortunately, not all at the same time!”

However, there is a definite progression for those who seek the Lord and honor him with their giving.

Several years ago, my fine wife Bev and I conducted a weekend seminar at the Church For All Nations in Porte Alegre, Brazil.

The church meets in a movie theater and the stage is five feet above the auditorium floor.  The Friday night service was fabulous. . .people were set free from the bondage of debt and lack.  There was weeping and shouting. . .it was awesome.

We didn’t think it could get any better. . .until Saturday night.

As I began speaking people spontaneously started walking and then running to the stage where they began laying and throwing money and other valuables at my feet.

I stopped preaching and started laying hands on each person and spoke a blessing over them.

Believe In Yourself...Jesus Does

Written by Harold Herring.

How do you see yourself?

Wait. . .don’t answer that.

Too many people, especially Christians get down on themselves because they’re not looking at themselves through the mirror of God.

We don’t generally see ourselves the way He sees us.

We should never let our friends or society label us. . .instead we need to find out what the Word of God says about us.

Let’s talk about how God sees you. And then believe He means what He says.

1 Peter 2:9-10 in the Amplified Bible says:

7 Keys To Deliverance From Financial Bondage

Can you imagine how Moses must have felt?

The first time he tried to help his people he ended up on the backside of the desert.

Talk about discouragement . . .Moses had every reason to be discouraged.

He was going to change the world! He was going to create a better environment for his people!  He was going to make a difference!  But instead he was rejected by his people. . .exiled from power and lost his position of prominence.

Life as Moses had known it . . .was over.

The first 40 years of his life, Moses had been somebody.

For the next forty years of his life, he was a nobody.

Avoid Being A Person Of Two Minds

Written by Harold Herring.

Have you ever been really pumped up on Sunday morning only to fall short by Tuesday afternoon?

Have you ever experienced a sudden burst of faith during a thought-provoking sermon only to fizzle out at the first sign of adversity?

A lack of consistency can cause your faith to dwindle and your hopes to sag.

Often people refer to this as being double minded.

James 1:8 says:

“A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.”

In his New Testament letter, the Apostle James uses the term double-minded twice.  One in James 1:4 and again in James 4:8.

According to Strong’s Concordance the Greek word for double-minded is G1374 and it means:

“double-minded, wavering, uncertain, doubting, divided in interest”

Just For You

Written by Harold Herring.

Ten or so years ago, there was a movie entitled “Fifty First Dates” starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore.   In the story. . .Drew Barrymore has short-term memory loss; she can’t remember anything that happened the day before.

So every morning the Sandler character has to woo the Barrymore character all over again from the beginning hoping she’ll like him.  At the end of the movie, he prepares a video for her to watch each morning which remind her of things in her life which she was forgotten.

That’s a movie. . .but let me tell you about something and someone who is real.

There are seven things God is giving each of us.  However, sometimes it seems we have short term memory loss when it comes to remembering what God has done for us.

That’s why we have a book of life. . .called the Bible which we can and should refer to on a daily basis.

7 Success Keys From The Greatest Book Ever

What does it take to be successful in whatever your hands find to do?

Some would say. . .an undergraduate or post-graduate education.  Perhaps, but it’s important to note that Bill Gates never graduated from college. . .neither did Michael Dell. . .nor Debbie of Mrs. Fields Cookies. . nor did 1 out of 4 of the wealthiest 500 people in the United States. In addition, we don’t know how many are even pursuing the field they graduated in.

I have a college degree but I can’t say that I use any of my training in what I do. And my fine wife Bev feels the same way.

Lest you get the wrong idea that we’re down on college . . . that’s not necessarily true.  It has its place if you need specific training to get where you want to go.

In other words, I want my doctor to have gone to medical school but lots of higher degrees isn’t for everyone despite the fact that society pushes everyone to have a degree.
