Here is the teaching outline for SUNDAY NITE LIVE.  Join us at 6 PM EST.

What is a dream?

WordNet.Com defines dream as:

“imaginative thoughts indulged in while awake”, “a cherished desire” and “someone or something wonderful.”

The American Heritage Dictionary defines it as: “A series of images, ideas, emotions, and sensations occurring involuntarily in the mind during certain stages of sleep” and as “A condition or achievement that is longed for; an aspiration.”

Have you ever thought about how you’d like to be recognized?

Genesis 37:19 KJV

“And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh.”

The dreamer cometh. I think I like that.

George Foreman said:

“If you don’t dream you might as well be dead.”

When you have a dream. . .your “want to” turns into your “have to.”

Here are the seven characteristics of being a dreamer.

D. . .Develop specific goals with a daily timeline to make your dreams come true.

Each night before you go to bed I want you to write down what you’ve done during the do to fulfill your dream and achieve your goals.

“….Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it.”

A. . .Activate Ephesians 6:8 by blessing others so God will bless you.

Ephesians 6:8 KJV

R. R.   R. . .Rejoice in the Lord who gives you everything you need to think beyond your imagination.

Ephesians 3:20 AMPC

Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the [action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams].

Genesis 37:8 KJV

“And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us. . .”

The remainder of Genesis 37:8 says:

“. . .And they hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for his words.”

Genesis 37:20 KJV

“Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit, and we will say, Some evil beast hath devoured him: and we shall see what will become of his dreams.”

Genesis 41:20 KJV

“And there was there with us a young man, an Hebrew, servant to the captain of the guard; and we told him, and he interpreted to us our dreams; to each man according to his dream he did interpret.”

Daniel 1:17 KJV

“As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.”

Acts 2:17 KJV

“And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:”

President Theodore Roosevelt once said:

“I choose not to be a common man. Me, it’s my right to be uncommon if I can. I’ll seek opportunity, not security. I do not wish to be a kept citizen--humbled and dulled by having the state look after me. I want to take the calculated risk, to dream and to build, to fail and to succeed.”

Dr. Benjamin Isaiah Mays once said:

“It must be borne in mind that the tragedy of life does not lie in not reaching your goals, the tragedy lies in not having any goals to reach. It isn’t a calamity to die with dreams unfulfilled, but it is a calamity not to dream. It is not a disaster to be unable to capture your ideals, but it is a disaster to have no ideals to capture. It is not a disgrace not to reach the stars, but it is a disgrace to have no stars to reach. -

George Bernard Shaw once said:

People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don’t believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can’t find them, MAKE THEM. -

We’ve talked about being a Dream Maker but we must cover the other two types of dreams.

Dream slayers….always seeking to disillusion, discourage or dishearten the dreams of others.

Dream chasers….people who talk the talk but never walk the walk. They spend their lives talking about what they’re going to do. . .but never do.

Now you know why we want you to be a Dream Maker.

Here are a few of my favorite quotes on dreams.

First, Dexter Yager, a strong Christian and successful Amway entrepreneur said:

“Success is the progressive realization of a worthwhile dream”

Second, Sam Walton said:

“If you believe in your dreams there is no limit to what you can do.”

Third, Mark Twain said:

“Don’t give up your dreams. When they are gone you may still exist, but you’ve ceased to really live.”

Fourth, Walt Disney said:

“The secret to making dreams come true is: curiosity, confidence, courage and constancy.”

Wait. . .look. . .here comes a dreamer. . .it’s you.
