1 Thessalonians 5:11 AMP

“Therefore encourage (admonish, exhort) one another and edify (strengthen and build up) one another, just as you are doing.”

Hebrews 3:13 NIV

“But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness.”

Hebrews 3:13 AMP

“. . . that none of you may be hardened [into settled rebellion] by the deceitfulness of sin [by the fraudulence, the stratagem, the trickery which the delusive glamor of his sin may play on him].”

First, you must encourage yourself before you can encourage anyone else.

1 Smuel 30:6 says:

“Andavid was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.”

Second, encourage and build each other up in the power of the Holy Ghost.

Jude 1:20 NLT

“But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit.”

1 Thessalonians 5:11 NIV

“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”

1 Thessalonians 5:11 MSG

“Build up hope so you'll all be together in this, no one left out, no one left behind. I know you're already doing this; just keep on doing it.”

Ephesians 6:8 says:

“…whatever good thing you cause to happen to someone else. . .God will do for you.”

Deuteronomy 1:38 NIV

“But your assistant, Joshua son of Nun, will enter it. Encourage him, because he will lead Israel to inherit it.”

Deuteronomy 3:28 NIV

“But commission Joshua, and encourage and strengthen him, for he will lead this people across and will cause them to inherit the land that you will see."

Third, encourage and build up others by your service.

2 Chronicles 35:2

“And he set the priests in their charges, and encouraged them to the service of the house of the LORD.”

Romans 14:19 NLT

“So then, let us aim for harmony in the church and try to build each other up.”

Fourth, encourage and build up others in their work.

“. . .whatever good thing you cause to happen to someone else God will do for you.”

Fifth, encourage and build up those you’re working with to maximize their potential.

Deuteronomy 3:28 NIV

“But commission Joshua, and encourage and strengthen him, for he will lead this people across and will cause them to inherit the land that you will see."

2 Samuel 19:7 NIV

“Now go out and encourage your men. I swear by the LORD that if you don't go out, not a man will be left with you by nightfall. This will be worse for you than all the calamities that have come upon you from your youth till now."

Sixth, encourage yourself and build up others to do the things He has called you to do.

Isaiah 1:17 NIV

“Learn to do right! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow.”

Here are five examples of doing the right thing.

First, learn to do right.  The first word “learn” implies that it will not only take effort but it’s something you must purpose to do in your life.

Second, seek justice for everyone.

Third, encourage the oppressed (not just your friends or those who encourage easily.)

Fourth, defend the cause of the fatherless.

Fifth, plead the case of the widows.

Seventh, encourage and build up others by your giving.

2 Chronicles 31:4
“Moreover he commanded the people that dwelt in Jerusalem to give the portion of the priests and the Levites, that they might be encouraged in the law of the LORD.”

2 Corinthians 9:8-13 AMP

“8 And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation].

9 As it is written, He [the benevolent person] scatters abroad; He gives to the poor; His deeds of justice and goodness and kindness and benevolence will go on and endure forever!

10 And [God] Who provides seed for the sower and bread for eating will also provide and multiply your [resources for] sowing and increase the fruits of your righteousness [which manifests itself in active goodness, kindness, and charity].

11 Thus you will be enriched in all things and in every way, so that you can be generous, and [your generosity as it is] administered by us will bring forth thanksgiving to God.

12 For the service that the ministering of this fund renders does not only fully supply what is lacking to the saints (God’s people), but it also overflows in many [cries of] thanksgiving to God.”
