1.         The Lord hears you in times of trouble

“The Lord hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee.” Psalm 20:1

“The eyes of the Lord are toward the [uncompromisingly] righteous and His ears are open to their cry.” Psalm 34:15 AMP

“When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their distress and troubles.” Psalm 34:17 AMP

“But the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord: he is their strength in the time of trouble.” Psalm 37:39

“But I will sing of Your mighty strength and power; yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy and loving-kindness in the morning; for You have been to me a defense (a fortress and a high tower) and a refuge in the day of my distress.” Psalm 59:16 AMP

“And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.” Psalm 50:15

“The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.” Nahum 1:7

“But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.” Psalm 59:16

2.         His name will defend you

“The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee.” Psalm 20:1

First, it’s a defense.

“May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble! May the name of the God of Jacob set you up on high [and defend you]” Psalm 20:1 AMP

“The king will say to them, "Whenever you failed to help any of my people, no matter how unimportant they seemed, you failed to do it for me." Matthew 25:45 CEV

Second, it’s a standard around which to fight

“We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the Lord fulfil all thy petitions.” Psalm 20:5

Third, the name of God is a means of deliverance.

“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.” Psalm 20:7

3.         He will send help from the sanctuary

“Send you help from the sanctuary. . .” Psalm 20:2 AMP

“Your way, O God, is in the sanctuary [in holiness, away from sin and guilt]. Who is a great God like our God?” Psalm 77:13 AMP

“Honour and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.” Psalm 96:6

“In essence, we have just such a high priest: authoritative right alongside God, conducting worship in the one true sanctuary built by God.” Hebrews 8:2 AMP

4.         He will strengthen you out of Zion

“Send you help from the sanctuary and support, refresh, and strengthen you from Zion.” Psalm 20:2 AMP

“Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined.” Psalm 50:2

“And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.” Isaiah 2:3

“He will come as a Redeemer to those in Zion who have turned away from sin.” Isaiah 59:20 TLB

5.         The Lord will fulfill all your petitions

“We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the Lord fulfil all thy petitions.” Psalm 20:5

“Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” Psalm 37:4

“. . .May the Lord answer all your prayers.” Psalm 20:5 NLT

“O fear the Lord, you His saints [revere and worship Him]! For there is no want to those who truly revere and worship Him with godly fear.

10 The young lions lack food and suffer hunger, but they who seek (inquire of and require) the Lord [by right of their need and on the authority of His Word], none of them shall lack any beneficial thing.” Psalm 34:9-10 AMP

“. . .those who trust in the Lord will lack no good thing.” Psalm 34:10 NLT

“For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.” Psalm 84:11

“And whatever you ask for in prayer, having faith and [really] believing, you will receive.” Matthew 21:22 AMP

6.         He will hear from heaven

“Now I know that the Lord rescues his anointed king.  He will answer him from his holy heaven and rescue him by his great power.” Psalm 20:6 NLT

“Accordingly, say to the Israelites, I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will free you from their bondage, and I will rescue you with an outstretched arm [with special and vigorous action] and by mighty acts of judgment.”. Exodus 6:6 AMP

7.         God is our trust

“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.” Psalm 20:7

“They that trust in the Lord shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.” Psalm 125:1

“. . .unmoved by any circumstance.” Psalm 125:1 TLB

First, we must trust God’s word.

“God is not a man, that He should tell or act a lie, neither the son of man, that He should feel repentance or compunction [for what He has promised]. Has He said and shall He not do it? Or has He spoken and shall He not make it good?” Numbers 23:19 AMP

Second, we must trust God’s abilities

“Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?” Jeremiah 32:27

Third, we must trust God’s intentions

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

Fourth, we must trust God’s track record

“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.” 2 Timothy 1:7 AMP

“Then Nebuchadnezzar said, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, for he sent his angel to deliver his trusting servants when they defied the king’s commandment and were willing to die rather than serve or worship any god except their own.” Daniel 3:28 TLB

“And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.  And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.” Acts 16:25-26

Fifth, trust He will make it up to us. . .everything the enemy has taken from us.

“But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.” Proverbs 6:31

“And the Lord turned the captivity of Job and restored his fortunes, when he prayed for his friends; also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.” Job 42:10 AMP

“We know how happy they are now because they stayed true to him then, even though they suffered greatly for it. Job is an example of a man who continued to trust the Lord in sorrow; from his experiences we can see how the Lord’s plan finally ended in good, for he is full of tenderness and mercy.” James 5:11 TLB
