7 Keys To Momentum - Outline

on on . .

Here is the teaching outline for SUNDAY NITE LIVE.  Join us at 6 PM (Eastern).

Momentum is best defined as:

“The amount of force a moving body has because of its weight and the speed at which it is moving.”

1 Samuel 17:48-49 MSG

“That roused the Philistine, and he started toward David. David took off from the front line, running toward the Philistine. David reached into his pocket for a stone, slung it, and hit the Philistine hard in the forehead, embedding the stone deeply. The Philistine crashed, facedown in the dirt.”

1.         Stop seeing yourself the way others see you.

1 Samuel 17:28 NLT

“But when David’s oldest brother, Eliab, heard David talking to the men, he was angry. “What are you doing around here anyway?” he demanded. “What about those few sheep you’re supposed to be taking care of? I know about your pride and deceit. You just want to see the battle!”

1 Samuel 17:29-30

“And David said, What have I now done? Is there not a cause? And he turned from him toward another, and spake after the same manner: and the people answered him again after the former manner.”

2.         Despise not small beginnings

1 Samuel 17:40 AMP

“Then he took his staff in his hand and chose five smooth stones out of the brook and put them in his shepherd’s [lunch] bag [a whole kid’s skin slung from his shoulder], in his pouch, and his sling was in his hand, and he drew near the Philistine.

Zechariah 4:10

“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin. . .”

3.         Make the most of where you’re at and what you’re doing at the moment.

1 Samuel 16:11 AMP

“Then [he] said to Jesse, Are all your sons here? [Jesse] said, There is yet the youngest; he is tending the sheep. Samuel said to Jesse, Send for him; for we will not sit down to eat until he is here.”

1 Samuel 17:34-36

“And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father's sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock:  “And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him. Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.”

Psalm 32:8 AMP

“I [the Lord] will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you.”

4.         Ignore the criticisms of others when your cause is just and your direction clear.

1 Samuel 17:33

“And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.”

Colossians 3:23 AMP

“Whatever may be your task, work at it heartily (from the soul), as [something done] for the Lord and not for men.”

5.         Become goal. . .reward motivated.

1 Samuel 17:24

“And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him, and were sore afraid.”

1 Samuel 17:25

“And the men of Israel said, Have ye seen this man that is come up? surely to defy Israel is he come up: and it shall be, that the man who killeth him, the king will enrich him with great riches, and will give him his daughter, and make his father's house free in Israel.

David discovered that the person who killed Goliath would be given three things:

First, the warrior who defeats Goliath will receive “great riches.”

Second, the warrior now victorious and wealthy will receive the hand of the King’s beautiful daughter in marriage.

Third, the victorious warrior will also have all their bills paid in full.

1 Samuel 17:26

“. . .who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?”

6.         Recognize who will fight your battles

1 Samuel 17:44

“And the Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the field.”

 “. . . be not afraid of him. . .”  2 Kings 1:15

“. . . be not afraid of them: for the LORD thy God is with thee. . .” Deuteronomy 20:1

“. . . Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's.”  2 Chronicles 20:15

“. . . Be not afraid, only believe.”  Mark 5:36

These four verses tell us to not be afraid of “him” or “them” but to “only believe.”

Psalm 118:6 MSG

“God's now at my side and I'm not afraid; who would dare lay a hand on me?”

1 Samuel 17:45

“Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.”

1 Samuel 17:46

“This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.”

1 Samuel 17:47

“And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the Lord's, and he will give you into our hands.”

Zechariah 4:6

“Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.”

7.         Create a momentum for victory

1 Samuel 17:48-49 AMP

“When the Philistine came forward to meet David, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet the PhilistineDavid put his hand into his bag and took out a stone and slung it, and it struck the Philistine, sinking into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the earth.”

Revelation 2:11 AMP

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb [being born again] , and by the word of their testimony [the words that come out of our mouths]; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”

Here are seven things to keep the momentum going in your life.

1.         Purpose in your heart that nothing will keep you from achieving your goals.

2.         Read the Bible every morning

3.         Spend time in prayer first thing each morning

4.         Operate on a daily timeline with goals

5.         Create a confession about the momentum you desire in your life.

6.         Every day for at least one hour listen to a CD or read a book that motivates you

7.         Listen to Rich Thoughts for Breakfast every day

Abraham Lincoln said:

“Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be.”
