Guess Who's Thinking About You

. .

When you go through any sort of trauma. . .sickness, loss of a job or even a loved one. . .you will inevitably meet someone who says “I’ve been thinking about you.”

This phrase is often uttered when caring people want to express their love and concern about your situation but they aren’t sure what else to say.

To have someone tell you they’ve been thinking about you in the midst of your personal challenge or adversity is always appreciated.

I’ve experienced this first hand this year.  I interact with many people on a daily basis. . .some of whom I’ve never met but who know about me . . .because of an article in a local newspaper about how I overcame breast cancer this year.

Notice I don’t refer to myself as a cancer survivor but as an overcomer.

So I’ve been the recipient of many people saying to me “I’ve been thinking about you.”

Have you ever had someone say “I’ve been thinking about you”. . .even under normal circumstances?

On a spiritual level. . .God does bring people to our minds. . .people he wants us to pray for.  This happens to me quite frequently as I’m awakened to pray for specific partners of this ministry.  Those are always special moments in His presence.

Now, let’s talk about someone who thinks about you 24/7.

1 Peter 5:7 in The Living Bible says:

“Let him have all your worries and cares, for he is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you.”

He is “always thinking about you.”

Not only that but He is “watching everything that concerns you.”

Can somebody say “Hallelujah”?  You need to stop and really embrace that.

One of my favorite scriptures is Psalm 40:17 in The Living Bible which says:

I am poor and weak, yet the Lord is thinking about me right now!”

I want you to write down the last part of Psalm 40:17.

“. . .the Lord is thinking about me right now.”

Personalize it.

“. . .the Lord is thinking about (put your name) right now.”

Our topic of conversation today is about each of us having the confidence. . .the reward. . .the blessing. . .the benefit of knowing that God is thinking about us at this very moment … and he will enable us to do great and mighty things.

In the past few days, I’ve seen an unusually large number of pictures, plaques, bookmarks, pens, magnets and coffee cups and a few other things with Jeremiah 29:11 printed on them.

Jeremiah 29:11 in the New International Version says:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

God not only thinks about us. . .but He has plans. . .good plans for us.

I want you to write down this next statement.

God is thinking about and has plans for (Put your Name).

You’re very blessed if you have a Momma and Daddy who think about you. . . you’re blessed when your spouse and/or children are thinking about you. . .it’s nice when your boss is thinking about you. . .it’s a joy knowing that you have friends who are thinking about you.

But even if you didn’t know if anyone was thinking about you …  the best thing of all is when you have the scriptural assurance that the Master of the Universe. . .the Creator of Heaven and earth. . .your Jehovah Shalom. . .your God of peace. . . is thinking about you . . . that is so awesome it defies description!

That trumps anyone else in the world thinking about you.

Jeremiah 29:11 says:

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

I want you to get this where you remember it tomorrow… and the next day …and every day hereafter. . .

God is thinking about and has plans for (Your Name).

Hallelujah!!

You may have felt that nobody knew you were alive.  Maybe that includes your family.  . .but that’s just not true . . . because God, your Heavenly Father, is thinking about you. . .RIGHT NOW!

Let me quote Psalm 40:17 in The Living Bible one more thing.  It says:

I am poor and weak, yet the Lord is thinking about me right now!”

Consider these words found in 1 Corinthians 2:10 in the Message Bible very carefully.  Here’s what it says:

“The Spirit, not content to flit around on the surface, dives into the depths of God, and brings out what God planned all along. Whoever knows what you're thinking and planning except you yourself? The same with God—except that he not only knows what he's thinking, but he lets us in on it. God offers a full report on the gifts of life and salvation that he is giving us. We don't have to rely on the world's guesses and opinions. We didn't learn this by reading books or going to school; we learned it from God, who taught us person-to-person through Jesus, and we're passing it on to you in the same firsthand, personal way.”

God will also let you in on what He’s thinking about you.

God also wants you to know that He has plans. . .good plans for you.

From the time you’re born. . .it seems that people have plans for you. . .your Mom has plans on how she will dress you. . .your Dad has plans on what sports you’ll be involved in. . .your friends have plans on what games you will play. . .your teachers have plans on what you’ll learn. . .your spouse has plans on how your life together will turn out. . .your employer has plans on what your job description will be.

I could go on but the bottom line is this . . .  throughout your life a lot of people have plans for you; however, there’s only One person whose plans come first.  Those are the plans you want to discover and pursue to find true fulfillment and peace on this earth.

Jeremiah 29:11 in The Living Bible says:

“For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

The truth of the matter is God planned for you before you were ever conceived or born on planet earth.  It doesn’t matter if your mom or your dad didn’t plan you … God did and that’s why you’re here.  His plan is the ultimate plan.

Jeremiah 1:5 in the Message Bible says:

“Before I shaped you in the womb, I knew all about you.  Before you saw the light of day, I had holy plans for you:  A prophet to the nations—that's what I had in mind for you."

This scripture is proof that there is no such thing as an illegitimate child.  You can be assured that God didn’t just plan for Jeremiah’s life.

Every life that comes upon planet earth was created with a purpose and a destiny.  God makes no mistakes!

If you’ve been a part of our Rich Thoughts For Breakfast calls. . .you’ve heard me mention. . .one of the most beautiful songbirds to ever draw a breath. . .Ethel Waters.  Until the time of her death, she sang at the Billy Graham Crusades.  Her signature song was “His Eye Is on the Sparrow.”

Ethel Waters’ mother gave birth to her after she was raped in a dark hallway at age 8!  As Ethel grew up and found the Lord, one of her favorite sayings was, “God don’t make no junk.”

In His grace, Ethel Waters knew she was born for a purpose.  You are too!

There are a number of scriptures which emphasize the point that God has plans for you. . .and that His plans are the only ones that matter.

Proverbs 19:21 in the Amplified Bible says:

“Many plans are in a man's mind, but it is the Lord's purpose for him that will stand.”

Proverbs 19:21 in the New Century Version says:

“People can make all kinds of plans, but only the Lord’s plan will happen.”

I really like the Message Bible translation of Proverbs 19:21:

“We humans keep brainstorming options and plans, but God's purpose prevails.”

Not only does God have plans for you. . .but they’re marvelous plans.

Psalm 40:5 in the Contemporary English Version says:

“You, LORD God, have done many wonderful things, and you have planned marvelous things for us.  No one is like you!  I would never be able to tell all you have done.”

One final question . . . do we really believe that God is thinking about us RIGHT NOW and that He has plans for us. . .at this very minute.

If you believe the Word of God in any way… you have to know it’s true!
