Loving God is a choice.
Following God is a more intense choice.
Both choices release supernatural benefits to those who believe. God desires to prove His greatness to His covenant people.
Psalm 91 is known as the Hedge Of Protection chapter. It’s one chapter that we encourage you to memorize, personalize and confess every verse in the chapter.
Here are seven keys to living victoriously….and we strongly encourage you to meditate on these.
1) Supernatural Security.
Psalm 91:1 in the New King James Version says:
“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”
We have security in His sanctuary where no enemy can tread.
There is a place of security in God.
When you were a kid. . .did you ever play hide and go seek. . .where you had a base. . .a safe place where you couldn’t be tagged.
Even if someone tagged you while you were on base. . .it was of no avail . . . because you are safe.
Psalm 77:13 in the Amplified Bible says:
“Your way, O God, is in the sanctuary [in holiness, away from sin and guilt]. Who is a great God like our God?”
Psalm 96:6 says:
“Honour and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.”
Hebrews 8:2 in the Message Bible says:
“In essence, we have just such a high priest: authoritative right alongside God, conducting worship in the one true sanctuary built by God.”
There is a place where you are safe. . .where the enemy can’t reach you. . .it’s God’s sanctuary. . .which gives us the best security available anywhere at any price.
Those who spend time in the presence of God attract supernatural protection.
2) A Place Of Refuge.
Psalm 91:2 in the New King James Version says:
“I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”
One of the keys to our success in life. . .is in whom we place our trust and commit our destiny.
Psalm 37:5 in the New Living Translation says:
“Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you.”
If we commit ourselves to following God’s instructions as we trust in Him. . .He will help us.
Create your plan. . .submit it to God. . .and follow His lead.
Proverbs 16:3 in the Amplified Bible says:
“Commit your works to the Lord [submit and trust them to Him], And your plans will succeed [if you respond to His will and guidance].”
Notice the verse say. . .your plans will succeed
Now let’s talk about real success.
Ephesians 3:16-17 in the Amplified Bible, Classic Edition says:
“May He grant you out of the rich treasury of His glory to be strengthened and reinforced with mighty power in the inner man by the [Holy] Spirit [Himself indwelling your innermost being and personality].
17 May Christ through your faith [actually] dwell (settle down, abide, make His permanent home) in your hearts! May you be rooted deep in love and founded securely on love.”
3) Deliverance From Traps Of Satan.
Psalm 91:3 in the New King James Version says:
“Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence. 4 He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.”
Traps are arrayed against the Christian.
The types of traps vary from person to person.
But, they exist and are focused upon destroying our witness.
God will expose the traps planned in secret against you.
If someone is saying bad things about you. . .telling untruths to your friends, supervisors or anyone else. . .embrace the promise found in Psalm 91:3 in the Contemporary English Version which says:
“The Lord will keep you safe from secret traps and deadly diseases.”
You can trust God to deliver you from every evil plot against you.
Familiar spirits learn our individual weaknesses and set about attempting to arrange our failure.
4) Freedom From Fear Of Terrorism.
Psalm 91:5 in the New King James Version says:
“You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day.”
Terrorism is still a very real threat against the United States.
I was greatly concerned to read of a "highly placed government official" saying the threat had been minimized.
Such a thought indicates a ridiculously shallow knowledge of geopolitics.
So long as a single Islamic Wahhabis lives, the threat of terror will remain.
Even in the light of such events, we must refuse to live in fear.
Our God has made supernatural promises and we must choose to walk in faith and believe He will provide our protection.
Proverbs 30:5 in The Living Bible says:
“Every word of God proves true. He defends all who come to him for protection.”
Not only does God offer you protection. . .but your enemies become His enemies.
Exodus 23:22 in the Amplified Bible says:
“But if you will indeed listen to and obey His voice … I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries.”
Now that’s what I call a real home security…much better than ADT or Brinks.
5) Victory Over Isolation Produced By Chronic Illnesses.
Psalm 91:6 in the New King James Version says:
“Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.”
My heart is filled with compassion for those who fight emotional illness.
There are some attacks that are not well understood. These are likely demonically driven.
Science is unearthing a new series of emotional illnesses that are of systemic (physical) origination. Treating them seems to take on confusing elements of which came first.
When science doesn’t understand, Jesus does. His Name means “The Lord is Salvation.”
The blood of Jesus can deliver us from anything detrimental to our well being. It may take diligence in the Word but we can eventually overcome.
6) Surviving Pandemic Attacks.
Psalm 91:7-8 in the New King James Version says:
“A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you. 8 Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked.”
Sometimes it seems we live from epidemic to epidemic. We’ve gone from the H1N1 virus, also known as Swine Flu, to SARS to Ebola and now Zika.
It is not my intention to declare that such threats do not exist or to minimize their threats in any way.
But, I believe our God is well able to keep us from any disease that may come our way...if we will face it in faith.
The US faces a very real threat of militarized disease weapons released against us by rogue nations.
I am not prophesying such a plague is coming upon the United States.
I am declaring my intent to live if such a thing does happen.
There is one disease that is definitely. . .pandemic. . .by the way pandemic means spreading through an entire nation, region or the world.
The pandemic disease of which I speak always results it death. It’s called sin.
Romans 5:12 in the Amplified Bible, Classic Edition says:
“Therefore, as sin came into the world through one man, and death as the result of sin, so death spread to all men, [no one being able to stop it or to escape its power] because all men sinned.”.
This most dangerous disease has a cure. . .it’s called salvation.
7) Angelic Protection.
Psalm 91:9-13 in the New King James Version says:
“Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, 10 No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; 11 For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. 12 In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone. 13 You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.”
Angels exist.
I had a visit from one. As my fine wife, Bev, and I were sleeping, he appeared and he was huge, not like the little fat babies you see in some pictures. He was well able to take care of anything trying to hurt me.
Matthew 18:10 in the New Living Translation says:
“Beware that you don’t look down on any of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven theirangelsare always in the presence of my heavenly Father.”
If you do a word study of just the gospels, you’ll be amazed at how many times God used angels to do His bidding.
The point is this. God’s Word works and it is there so we can use it to our benefit.
