Are you discouraged today. . .for any reason?
Have you been fighting discouragement about your family, job, health or anything else?
If you have. . .take heart.
God is on your side even in your weakness.
He’s for you when you stumble.
He’s for you even when you grumble. . .though He doesn’t like that very much.
Are you so discouraged that it makes you want to quit?
The next two statements should make you shout and send glory bumps all over your body.
First, God not only loves you. . .but He wants to help you right now.
Did you see this?
God not only loves you. . .but He wants to help you right now.
Second, it’s too soon to quit.
It’s too soon to quit.
Winners know it’s too soon to quit.
Yes, you’re a winner.
Here’s the reason why.
The Word of God says you’re a winner. We did a three-part teaching on this last week on Rich Thoughts for Breakfast. If you are not tuning in … you need to! If you want a copy of the teachings, email me at [email protected] to request it.
If you’re discouraged. . .ready to throw in the towel. . .remember, it’s too soon to quit.
Seek the voice of the Holy Spirit. . .where you will receive instruction, courage, direction and the faith you need to rise up to whatever challenge you may be facing.
Over the years, I have found that discouragement often links up with fear to render a person. . .even believers. . .feeling defeated and ready to quit.
Need to turn your discouragement into encouragement . . . fear into faith . . . then let’s examine Isaiah 41:8-15.
There are so many teaching points in these eight verses but we will only discuss seven of them right now.
1. “I have chosen you and not rejected you.”
Isaiah 41:9 in the New Living Translation says:
“. . . For I have chosen you and will not throw you away.”
God is reassuring Israel that He has not forgotten them.
Make no mistake about it. . .God is reassuring us today.
Even though you may experience bondage and weakness in your life. . .you have not been rejected. His hand is upon you right now. He has chosen you.
John 15:16 in the King James Version says:
“Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.”
When you are productive. . .when you show yourself faithful. . .when you study to show yourself approved. . .when the fruit of your labors remains, the New Living Translation says, that when we “. . .produce lasting fruit. . .the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.”
2. Do not be afraid for I am with you so don’t anxiously look around you.
Isaiah 41:10 in the New Living Translation says:
“. . . Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. . .”
You don’t have to worry about looking around to see who can help you . . . because our great God Jehovah is already on the scene.
We’re told 44 times in the King James Bible to “be not afraid.”
We’re told 66 times in the New Living Translation to “don’t be afraid.”
“. . . be not afraid of him. . .” 2 Kings 1:15
“. . . be not afraid of them: for the LORD thy God is with thee. . .”Deuteronomy 20:1
2 Chronicles 20:15 in the King James Bible says:
“. . . Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's.”
The real key is found in Mark 5:36 in the King James Version which says:
“. . . Be not afraid, only believe.”
3. “I am your God [Elohim]”
Isaiah 41:10 in the New Living Translation continues by saying:
“. . . Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. . .”
According to the Strong’s Concordance the Hebrew word for discourage is H5106 and it means:
“to hinder, hold back, forbid, disallow, restrain, frustrate”
Joshua 1:9 in the Message Bible says:
“Haven’t I commanded you? Strength! Courage! Don’t be timid; don’t get discouraged. God, your God, is with you every step you take.”
According to Strong’s Concordance the Hebrew word for God in this verse is H430 and it means:
“high and lifted up, the mighty one”
What a mighty God we serve
The God who parted the Red Sea can part the red ink in your finances.
The God who delivered Jesus from death and the grave is the same God who can release resurrection power into every situation you’re facing.
4. “I will strengthen you surely. . .I will help you.”
Isaiah 41:10 in the New Living Translation continues by saying:
“. . .I will strengthen you and help you. . .”
This phrase actually means that God will make you strong by a divine encounter.
When you speak the words that are from the mind of Christ, it unleashes a spiritual dynamic in the earth. Besides, you are not the one who is making it happen by your strength. God’s Word is coming through your mouth.
Joel 3:10 says:
“Beat your plowshares into swords and your pruning hooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.”
The Amplified Translation of Joel 3:10 says:
“Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruning hooks into spears; let the weak say, I am strong [a warrior]!
You need to begin to speak that strength . . . it makes you battle ready.
Now consider the words of Joel 3:9-11 in the Message Bible:
“Announce this to the godless nations: Prepare for battle! Soldiers at attention! Present arms! Advance! Turn your shovels into swords, turn your hoes into spears. Let the weak one throw out his chest and say, "I'm tough, I'm a fighter."
Hurry up, pagans! Wherever you are, get a move on! Get your act together. Prepare to be shattered by God!”
5. “I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Isaiah 41:10 in the Classic Amplified Bible concludes by saying:
“. . .yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My [victorious] right hand of rightness and justice.”
When you’re in the midst of an attack. . .it’s comforting to know that God not only has your back. . .but He will lift your hands in victory.
Truthfully, you may feel like victory is nowhere in sight BUT GOD has you covered.
Isaiah 41:10 this time in the Message Bible concludes by saying:
“I’ll give you strength. I’ll help you. I’ll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you.”
6. “Those who contend with you shall be as nothing, and will perish. You will seek those who quarrel with you, but will not find them.”
Your enemies may not be like the feared Philistines of old but they are no less adversarial as spiritual Philistines.
The enemy of your destiny is seeking to render you ineffective in the Kingdom of God. He wants to harass you spiritually and steal the promises and life of God from you but he’s a loser. . .with a capital “L.”
Listen to Isaiah 41:11-13 in the Message Bible which says:
“When you go out looking for your old adversaries you won’t find them—not a trace of your old enemies, not even a memory. That’s right. Because I, your God, have a firm grip on you and I’m not letting go. I’m telling you, ‘Don’t panic. I’m right here to help you.’”
Can somebody say “Hallelujah!!”
7. “I have made you a new, sharp threshing sledge with double edges.”
At this point in your life. . .you may not feel like the sharpest tool in the shed BUT GOD promises that if we follow Him, He’ll change us and mold us into a new, sharp, threshing instrument.
Whether you’ve had or not had the attitude of a winner. . .it’s your time.
Isaiah 41:15-16 in the Message Bible says:
“As a sharp-toothed harrow you’ll smooth out the mountains, turn those tough old hills into loamy soil. You’ll open the rough ground to the weather, to the blasts of sun and wind and rain. But you’ll be confident and exuberant, expansive in The Holy of Israel!”
If you feel like throwing in the towel. . .keep it. . .you’ll need it.
If you feel like quitting. . .don’t. . .it’s too soon to quit.
Why not quit. . .because the Word says you’ll be confident, exuberant and expansive.
