Revelatory Truth About Wealth

. .

There are 64 times in just the King James Version of the Bible that the word blessing is used. The word bless appears 463 times. It is obviously a word God likes to use.

A blessing is something we all enjoy receiving from God. It’s also what we are called to do and be to others.

Yet when you look around today there is a something that touches lives everywhere even in Christian circles.

I call it “blessing abuse” or the sin of ingratitude.

When we forget who brought us to the dance. . .when we forget who has delivered us out of trouble. . .time after time. . .who has answered our prayers and blessed us daily. . .who healed our bodies. . .lifted us up when we thought we were sinking.

We have abused the blessings that God has given us by a lack of appreciation, recognition or a forgetful memory.

This is why I was led to teach Deuteronomy 8:10-18 which reveals an amazing progression for those wanting to be used by God while manifesting the power to get wealth.

Here are seven wealth-accumulating, life-changing verses found in Deuteronomy 8.

The first life-changing verse is Deuteronomy 8:10 in The Living Bible which says:

“When you have eaten your fill, bless the Lord your God for the good land he has given you.”

When you’ve eaten. . .bless God for the food you have.

“But Brother Harold, all we’ve had to eat is Spam or soup made with a few potatoes.”

Most any Christian who lives in three-fourths of the world’s population would be blessed to eat meat and potatoes because it’s certainly not a part of their current diet.

According to the World Bank more than one billion people live on less than a dollar a day. Nearly three billion people live on less than two dollars a day.

In other words, nearly half of the world’s population lives on less per day than the cost of a cup of coffee from Starbucks.

Truthfully and sadly, the rest of the world must be amazed at the conduct of the people of the United States and the industrialized nations of the world. . .it seems that we’re never satisfied.

If we have a house. . .we want a bigger house.

If we have a car. . .we want a newer car with more bells and whistles.

If we get a vacation. . .we want it to be longer or better or bigger.

And when we don’t get what we want. . .we have a tendency to complain.

Hmmmm I wonder what God thinks about that.

The second life-changing verse is Deuteronomy 8:11 in The Living Bible which says:

“But that is the time to be careful! Beware that in your plenty you don’t forget the Lord your God and begin to disobey him.”

Plenty is an interesting word.

When I think of having plenty to eat. . .I reminded of a story Zig Ziglar, the great motivation speaker and Baptist layman, tells about growing up during the Great Depression and the family’s economic condition at the time.

Zig said they always had plenty to eat because when he asked his mother for seconds, she would always say: “No, you’ve had plenty.”

The Hebrew word plenty is translated four different ways in the Old Testament; however, it’s mentioned 155 times in 149 verses as H7230 or:

“multitude; abundance; greatness”

Proverbs 20:15 says:

“There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.”

Zechariah 14:14 says:

“And Judah also shall fight at Jerusalem; and the wealth of all the heathen round about shall be gathered together, gold, and silver, and apparel, in great abundance.”

Psalm 150:2 says:

“Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.”

God wants each of us living in a multitude of blessings, abundance and greatness. . .He wants us having plenty.

The third life-changing scriptures are in Deuteronomy 8:12-14 in The Living Bible which says:

“For when you have become full and prosperous and have built fine homes to live in, and when your flocks and herds have become very large, and your silver and gold have multiplied that is the time to watch out that you don’t become proud and forget the Lord your God who brought you out of your slavery in the land of Egypt.

I find this scripture fascinating for what it doesn’t say.

“For when you have become broke and sick and have your house foreclosed on and when your cars have been repossessed and lost all your savings and you’re down to your last penny. I’m doing this so you don’t become proud and to keep you humble and poor.”

Yet there are some believers who actually believe that’s what God has in store for them.

There is no asterisk at the bottom of the page. . .which says. . .this is for everybody else except Ruth, Michelle, Fred, Al, Yvette, Kay etc. and etc.

The reason there’s no exception to Deuteronomy 18:12-13 is because it applies to everybody drawing breath on planet earth.

The scripture does say “. . . For when you have become full and prosperous. . .”

What God’s wants for us. . .is to become full and prosperous. If we’re not there yet, fret not, nor worry or doubt. . .delay doesn’t mean denial.

It doesn’t matter where you are. . .just where you’re going. Hang on to becoming what God wants you to be and become.

The enemy wants you to think that the Lord is not interested in your needs or in fulfilling the promises that He makes to each of us in the Word of God.

2 Peter 3:9 in the Classic Amplified Bible says:

“The Lord does not delay and is not tardy or slow about what He promises, according to some people's conception of slowness, but He is long-suffering (extraordinarily patient) toward you, not desiring that any should perish, but that all should turn to repentance.”

This scripture is often quoted as a verse to give hope to those who believe for a loved one to be saved. However, I think there is much more at work in this verse.

“The Lord does not delay and is not tardy or slow about what He promises. . .”

If you’ve been going through the fire. . .if you feel like you’ve been to hell and back, then you need to hold onto the first part of this verse.

God does not delay. . .but the enemy likes to see if he can hinder and discourage us as we await the arrival of God’s answer to the circumstances, situations and problems that we are facing.

The fourth life-changing verse is Deuteronomy 8:15 in The Living Bible which says:

“Beware that you don’t forget the God who led you through the great and terrible wilderness with the dangerous snakes and scorpions, where it was so hot and dry. He gave you water from the rock!”

Don’t forget the Lord. . .or as I’m prone to say.

Always remember the Lord. . .and what He has brought you through already.

Has God ever led you through the wilderness. . .when either you or those close to you experienced financial headaches or emotional heartaches. . .when it seemed that no one else was around?

Now look at this. The Hebrew word for snakes is H5175 and just as you might imagine it means:

“serpent, snake.”

However, it is interesting that H5175 comes from a Hebrew root word H5172 which means:

“to practice divination, divine, observe signs, learn by experience, diligently observe, practice fortunetelling, take as an omen.”

In other words, God has led you through the times you were doing goofy unscriptural, yes sinful things.

Remember the previous times when God lead you through your dry periods. . .when it seemed your prayers weren’t being answered and the enemy had you wondering what in the world you had done wrong?

Was there some sin that was causing you to travel through the drought and the fire?

But here’s the good news. The Lord always has a plan. Backing up in Deuteronomy, chapter 8 verse 2 in The New Living Translation says:

Remember how the LORD your God led you through the wilderness for these forty years, humbling you and testing you to prove your character, and to find out whether or not you would obey his commands.”

Psalm 66:12 says:

“Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place.”

The fifth life-changing scripture is Deuteronomy 8:16 in The Living Bible says:

He fed you with manna in the wilderness (it was a kind of bread unknown before) so that you would become humble and so that your trust in him would grow, and he could do you good.”

Even when you’re traveling through the drought and the dangerous places. . .God is with you. . .He will provide for you. No question about it.

But the real question is what’s happening in you during your journey through tough times.

Are you learning humility? Some people learn humility by their upbringing or through time in the Word. Others learn humility by traveling through tough experiences in life.

Regardless of how we get it. . .humility. . .will take us to places of spiritual growth and blessing that we can only imagine.

Proverbs 22:4 just stirred in me. It says:

“By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.”

The Classic Amplified Bible translation of Proverbs 22:4 says:

“The reward of humility and the reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord is riches and honor and life.”

Now that’s worth traveling through the wilderness for.

The sixth life-changing scripture is Deuteronomy 8:17 in The Living Bible says:

“He did it so that you would never feel that it was your own power and might that made you wealthy.”

At the time the scripture was written people lived in an agrarian society where they worked with their hands. . .so this verse takes on added significance.

Your wealth is not because of what you’ve done. . .but rather what He’s done through and in you.

The New Living Translation of Deuteronomy 8:17 says:

“He did all this so you would never say to yourself, ‘I have achieved this wealth with my own strength and energy.’”

As the song says. . .Look what the Lord has done!

The seventh life changing scripture is Deuteronomy 8:18 in The Living Bible says:

“Always remember that it is the Lord your God who gives you power to become rich, and he does it to fulfill his promise to your ancestors.”

Here are seven keys to manifesting the power to get wealth in your life.

First, thou. . .that means you. This is about you.

The second word in Deuteronomy 8:18 clearly proves the verse is about you.

In fact, the Classic Amplified Bible translation of the verse says:

“But you shall [earnestly] remember the Lord your God, for it is He Who gives you power to get wealth…”

It’s clear this verse is talking about YOU. Now that should make YOU shout HALLELUJAH!

Second, remember the Lord your God.

Unfortunately, as many believers become successful they forget . . .how they got where they are.

Obviously you worked hard to get where you are. . .but I also know that it was the Lord who gave you. . .a brain to think with. . .the strength of body to work. . . the health to function properly. . .and the skills to create possibilities.

In short, we are who we are and where we are because of who is in us. It’s His ability working through us … we hardly have any reason to boast.

We tend to forget why we are where we are . . .even those God sent who’ve helped and blessed us along the way.

When we remember the Lord for what He’s done and doing. . .He will ALWAYS show us the way to go.

Proverbs 3:6 in the Good News Translation says:

“Remember the Lord in everything you do, and he will show you the right way.”

Third, 'He gives thee.'

God is giving each of us the opportunity. . .the power to get wealth.

And yes, He’ll do for you what He does for anyone else. . .He has to.

Acts 10:34 in the New International Version says:

“Then Peter began to speak: "I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism.”

The Message Bible translation is even clearer:

“Peter fairly exploded with his good news: "It's God's own truth, nothing could be plainer: God plays no favorites! It makes no difference who you are or where you're from—if you want God and are ready to do as he says, the door is open.”

I have read Acts 10:34 in thirteen different translations and I have not seen any sort of asterisk or footnote indicating that this scripture doesn’t apply to everybody on planet earth.

God is empowering and enlightening you to know beyond a shadow of a doubt. . .that He’s giving you gift contained in Deuteronomy 8:18.

Fourth, it’s a gift!

A gift is something you give.

According to Strong’s Concordance the Hebrew word for giveth is nathan (H5414) which means: “give; to be given.”

Have you ever received a gift from your parents…spouse…children…best friend?

Why do you think they wanted to give you a gift?

The person giving the gift wanted to bless you.

Matthew 7:11 in the Classic Amplified Bible says:

“If you then, evil as you are, know how to give good and advantageous gifts to your children, how much more will your Father Who is in heaven [perfect as He is] give good and advantageous things to those who keep on asking Him!”

What kind of gifts does your Heavenly Father want to give you?

Good gifts. . .advantageous gifts.

James 1:17 says:

"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning."

Fifth, God is giving you the POWER to get wealth.

The Hebrew word for power in Deuteronomy 8:18 is koach (H3581) means:

“strength, power, might; strength (of angels; and the power (of God)”

I’m about to speak a five-word sentence. . .the reality of which can change your life forever. Here it is: God is giving you power.”

Acts 1:8 says:

“… ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you … (then) ye shall become witnesses … .

The power Jesus promises after the Holy Ghost comes upon you in enabling power.

Sixth, God is giving you the power to get WEALTH.

Deuteronomy 8:18 in the Classic Amplified Bible says:

“But you shall [earnestly] remember the Lord your God, for it is He Who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.”

God is giving you the power. . .to pray a nice prayer

God is giving you a heart for those less fortunate. But if you’re broke all you can do is wish them a better life.

Wealth and wisdom go hand in hand.

Ecclesiastes 7:11-12 in the Message Bible says:

“Wisdom is better when it's paired with money, Especially if you get both while you're still living. Double protection: wisdom and wealth! Plus this bonus: Wisdom energizes its owner.”

Now, let’s look at Deuteronomy 8:18 in the New International Version which says:

“Always remember that it is the LORD your God who gives you power to become rich, and he does it to fulfill the covenant he made with your ancestors.”

Why does He want you to be rich…..to fulfill the covenant He made to our forefathers

God has given us the ability…the power to get wealth. . .to get rich for a purpose.

What does it mean to be rich? Webster’s Intercollegiate Dictionary defines “rich” as “having abundant possessions, especially material wealth.”

God wants us to be abundantly blessed. . .so we can bless others.

Genesis 12:2 in the Classic Amplified Bible says:

“And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you [with abundant increase of favors] and make your name famous and distinguished, and you will be a blessing [dispensing good to others].”

Seventh, God will never give you something unless He expects you to use it….

God has given each of us the power to get wealth. How does God expect us to use and manifest His power in our finances.

In closing, I want to share two powerful scriptures with you.

Ephesians 3:20 in the Amplified Bible.

“Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the [action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams].”

2 Corinthians 9:8 in the Classic Amplified Bible says:

“And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation].”

One final observation. . .most people just quote Deuteronomy 8:18 but the verses we’ve just studied show an important progression in your power to get wealth.

You’ve got the Word. . .you’ve got the power. . . every ability you need . . .to get wealth. . .now the real questions is. . .what are you going to do with it?
