How do you see yourself?
Wait. . .don’t answer that.
Too many people, especially Christians get down on themselves because they’re not looking at themselves through the mirror of God.
We don’t generally see ourselves the way He sees us.
We should never let our friends, relatives or society label us. . .instead we need to find out what the Word of God says about us.
Let’s talk about how God sees you. And then believe He means what He says.
1 Peter 2:9-10 in the Amplified Bible says:
“But you are not like that, for you have been chosen by God himself—you are priests of the King, you are holy and pure, you are God’s very own—all this so that you may show to others how God called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were less than nothing; now you are God’s own. Once you knew very little of God’s kindness; now your very lives have been changed by it.”
First, you have been chosen by God Himself.
When you were growing up. . .did you ever play an athletic event or game where two captains would choose the team they wanted to play with.
You may have always been the kid who was chosen last. But those days are gone. . .forever.
God Himself. . .the Master of the Universe picked you. That’s right, God chose you.
Second, you are priests of the King. . .you are holy and pure.
1 Peter 2:9 in The Living Bible says:
“But you are not like that, for you have been chosen by God himself—you are priests of the King, you are holy and pure, you are God’s very own—all this so that you may show to others how God called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.”
Let’s personalize the first part of 1 Peter 2:9 which says:
“But <<YourName>> is not like that, for <<YourName>> has been chosen by God himself. . .”
Third, you are God’s very own.
And yes, He chose you. . .He called you for a purpose.
Pastor Joel Osteen said:
“You were not created to just get by with an average, unrewarding, or unfulfilling life. God created you to leave your mark on this generation.”
Fourth, so you may show to others how God called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.
Does it make sense that God would call us out of the darkness to live in sickness, lack, and bondage?
Heavens No! He called you out of the darkness of that bondage into his marvelous light to be a witness to others. To demonstrate how much He believes in us and loves each of us.
Fifth, once you were less than nothing.
We went from a zero to super blessed when we responded to that calling by asking Jesus into our hearts as our Lord and Savior.
Sixth, once you knew very little of God’s kindness.
Titus 3:4-6 says:
“But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,”
Seventh, now your very lives have been changed by His kindness.
Before we accepted Jesus. . .everything was about us and our desires. But once He chose us and we acknowledge Him. . .things began to change.
Need more proof about how God sees you?
Romans 8:17 in the King James Version says:
“And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.”
God not only sees you as a joint-heir. . .He calls you one as well.
Some believers come from either a dysfunctional family or a family who never taught them a scriptural view of who they really are in Christ.
That’s why it’s critically important for all believers to continually renew their minds.
Romans 12:2 in the Amplified Bible says:
“Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].”
How do we change. . .transform our view of ourselves. . .by the Word of God?
Romans 12:2 in the New Living Translation says:
“Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.”
We need to re-program our minds with the Word of God.
Hebrews 4:12 in the Amplified Bible says:
“For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.”
The Word of God is more powerful than any failure in your life. . .any negative comment, put down or insult than you have ever had to endure.
God’s word has the power to overcome any way you were raised or not raised but it will take the Word living in your heart, mind and soul to bring about the change you desire.
As you begin to immerse yourself in the Word. . .when negative comments come along just remind the enemy of your destiny. . .that you’re different now. You have a love for the Word and receive all the promises it contains for you.
As you exercise your faith. . .you will sense your confidence growing. . .your determination rising and your belief for personal success to grow and grow.
Romans 10:17 in the Amplified Bible say:
“So faith comes by hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the preaching [of the message that came from the lips] of Christ (the Messiah Himself).“
Make no mistake about it. . .the enemy of your destiny. . .wants you down on yourself, feeling that you’re no good that you’ll never amount to anything. . .that you’re nothing but a failure and he’ll throw in that you’re ugly as well.
The enemy wants you to believe that no one could love you. . .that you’re destined to stay where you are. . .in a comfort zone of mediocrity. . .but he is a seriously horrible liar. Don’t believe him for a second.
John 8:44 in the Amplified Bible says:
“. . .because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a falsehood, he speaks what is natural to him, for he is a liar [himself] and the father of lies and of all that is false.”
If you don’t believe in yourself. . .who will?
Sadly, some people have no clue just how special they really are.
I remember when I was 10 or 11. . .I was having lunch with my Mom and Dad at my favorite restaurant at the time. . .it was called the Barbecue Lodge.
During the course of the meal my Mom looked at me and said, “Do you realize how handsome you are?”
Without missing a mouthful. . .I said “I wish all the girls at school believed that.” My Mom’s reaction was priceless and I’m sure she’d be embarrassed if I told you the rest of the story. . .so I won’t.
A parent. . .no doubt sees a child or at least should. . .see their children in a different and positive light.
Because of the lack of a proper self-image or a family that encourages you to be the best. . .many Christians settle for the opinion of others . .without ever pursuing the best.
Some believers pick friends and even worse … spouses that are beneath them. . .because they don’t feel good enough or realize how unique they are.
You don’t need to feel beneath anyone. . .you don’t need to feel or be made to feel of lesser value than anyone else.
And here are seven reasons why.
First, because of God's great love for us, we are adopted into His family and made joint heirs with Christ.
Have you ever been comforted by the love of a parent, best friend or spouse? If so, you know the comfort it gives you.
Get ready to experience the spiritual confidence of 1 John 3:1 as you’ve never felt it before. Ask God to allow you to hear, understand and embrace this passage in the Amplified Bible afresh and anew.
“See what [an incredible] quality of love the Father has given (shown, bestowed on) us, that we should [be permitted to] be named and called and counted the children of God! And so we are! The reason that the world does not know (recognize, acknowledge) us is that it does not know (recognize, acknowledge) Him.”
Second, we are made to sit in heavenly places (of authority over all demons, sickness, etc.) with Christ.
Acts 1:8 says:
“… ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you … (then) ye shall become witnesses … .”
The power Jesus promises after the Holy Ghost comes upon you in enabling power (the word, dunamis in the Greek, where we get our word dynamite).
So let’s look at this verse again as I expand the paraphrase for you.
“You shall receive strength and ability after the Holy Ghost has come upon you, and you will be able to witness of me simultaneously in Jerusalem, and in Judea, and in Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth.”
Third, we are blessed with all spiritual blessings in Christ.
Ephesians 1:3 in the Amplified Bible says:
“May blessing (praise, laudation, and eulogy) be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) Who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual (given by the Holy Spirit) blessing in the heavenly realm.”
God is going to give us every blessing from the heavenly realm.
Jeremiah 32:40 in the New Living Translation which says:
“And I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop doing good for them. I will put a desire in their hearts to worship me, and they will never leave me.”
“And I will make an everlasting covenant with <<Your Name>>: I will never stop doing good for <<Your Name. I will put a desire in <<Your Name>>’s heart to worship me, and <<he/she>> will never leave me.”
Not only is God going to cause us to prosper; to make us happy and to walk in His favor. . .He is never going to stop doing good for us. . .and He will never leave us. Now that’s what I call a blessing flow.
Fourth, we are the righteousness of Christ through faith, thus being made right before God.
Look carefully as how Romans 3:22 is so understandable in The Living Bible says:
“But now God has shown us a different way to heaven—not by “being good enough” and trying to keep his laws, but by a new way (though not new, really, for the Scriptures told about it long ago). Now God says he will accept and acquit us—declare us “not guilty”—if we trust Jesus Christ to take away our sins. And we all can be saved in this same way, by coming to Christ, no matter who we are or what we have been like.”
1. God says He will accept and acquit us.
2. God will declare us not guilty.
3. God will take away our sins.
4. God wants us to be saved.
5. God will forgive us no matter who we are or what we’ve done.
When God saves us. . .He takes rejection from us. So don’t put it back on.
Fifth, we are entitled to a clean conscience before God because of the Blood and can have full assurance of faith when we go before Him.
Hebrews 10:22 in the Amplified Bible says:
“Let us all come forward and draw near with true (honest and sincere) hearts in unqualified assurance and absolute conviction engendered by faith (by that leaning of the entire human personality on God in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness), having our hearts sprinkled and purified from a guilty (evil) conscience and our bodies cleansed with pure water.”
When we’re cleansed by the Word. . .rejection becomes a thing of the past. . .put under the blood of Jesus.
Sixth, our sins have been removed from us as far as the east is from the west and God Himself has chosen not to remember our failures.
If you ever feel rejected because your sins haven’t been given. . .then take comfort in the following two verses.
First, Psalm 103:12 in the New Living Translation says:
“He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.”
Second, Hebrews 8:12 in the New Living Translation says:
“And I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins.”
Seventh, we are loved with the same love that the Father has for Jesus Himself!
Can it get any better than that?
John 17:23 in the Amplified Bible says:
“I in them and You in Me, in order that they may become one and perfectly united, that the world may know and [definitely] recognize that You sent Me and that You have loved them [even] as You have loved Me.”
Talk about real love. . .the kind you have for a joint heir.
And, yes, recognize that you didn’t evolve from a monkey or a tadpole or anything or anyone else. . .you were made in His image and after His likeness.
Jesus believes in you. . .so you should believe in yourself.
You were created to touch people nobody else can touch. . .so don’t allow the enemy to keep you from fulfilling your destiny.
I mean after all. . .as we pointed out earlier in the teaching. . .you are a joint heir with Christ.
Do you know what it really means to be a joint heir?
It simply means that what belongs to Jesus belongs to you. Think about that.
Personalize that statement.
Whatever belongs to <<Your Name>> belongs to Jesus because you are joint-heirs.
No matter what you’ve gotten through. . .you still have worth and value to God because the adversity you’ve faced doesn’t change who you are.
When we know who we are in Christ. . .everything can change suddenly.
Once we get ahold of who we are in Him. . .we will never have to live in failure or be a slave to our past.
When God told Ezekiel to prophesy to the valley of dry bones. . .he was telling him to speak life to his dead situation.
Ezekiel 37:4 in the Amplified Bible says:
“Again He said to me, Prophesy to these bones and say to them, O you dry bones, hear the word of the Lord.”
So what seems dead in your life? What situation do you need to speak the Word of God to?
It’s time to obey the Word of God. . .to bring good things into whatever seemingly dead situation you are facing.
Speak the good things in the Word of God. . .to whatever problem you’re dealing with.
This is what faith. . .is all about.
God created us to walk in victory. . .He believes in us. . .we must decide to believe what the Word of God says about us.
When we said. . .”Jesus, please forgive me of my sins and be the Lord of my life.” Jesus slipped the robe of righteousness on us. . .and there was never anyone born other than Him who deserved it. We merely received it as a gift.
Just remember. . .God created you to be a winner. . .and not a loser. Don’t be a whiner. . .embrace the fact that you are a joint-heir with Christ.
Stop talking about what you can’t do. . .and begin confessing Philippians 4:13 in the Amplified Bible which says:
“I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency].”
Change the words you speak. . .because they will change the course of your life.
Create a confession. . .stating who you are in Him. . .and what you can do as a joint-heir.
“All things are possible to me because I believe. . .I know that God selected me and chose me to be His very own. I know that I am a joint heir with Christ. I know that no weapon formed against me shall prosper. I know that I am the righteousness of God through the blood of Jesus overcoming every sin and mistake of my past. I know that if God is for me. . .and He is. . .then who could be against me. I know that I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me”
This short confession was created from Mark 9:23, 1 Peter 2:9-10, Romans 8:17, Isaiah 54:17, 2 Corinthians 5:21 and Romans 8:31, Philippians 4:13.
You can either use these verses or others. . .but create a confession. . .and use it daily to change the direction and flow of your life.
Jesus believes in you. . .start believing in yourself.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
