Seven Ways To Hurt The Devil

. .

Have you ever wondered why it seems that you’ve been under constant attack by the enemy of your destiny?

Have you thought about why it seems nothing goes right. . .almost as if the enemy is playing games on you?

The answer is simple.

Satan fights what hurts him most. . .and that’s you.

He recognizes your potential for the Kingdom.

He knows God created a path through the Word for you to be successful and prosperous.

He understands God positioned you to operate in the end-time Office of the Giver.

He’s frightened that you’ll tap into previously unknown potential.

He’s petrified you will realize that he’s a defeated foe.

Wow…just directed to repeat several things. . .

Satan fights what hurts him most. . .and that’s you.

He recognizes. . .your potential for the Kingdom.

He knows. . .God create a path through the Word for you to be successful and prosperous.

He understands God has positioned you to operate in the end-time Office of the Giver.

He’s frightened that you’ll tap into previously unknown potential.

He’s petrified you will realize that he’s a defeated foe.

Colossians 2:15 in the Amplified Bible says:

“[God] disarmed the principalities and powers that were ranged against us and made a bold display and public example of them, in triumphing over them in Him and in it [the cross].”

He’s terrified you will realize that God created you unique in all the earth and that there’s nothing impossible to you. . .because you believe.

His plan is to distract you from God’s promises such as John 10:10 in the New Living Translation which says:

“The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”

The battles you face aren't flesh and blood but principalities and powers. The great news...You win...he loses.

Let’s look at seven ways you’re hurting the devil.

1.      Run to Him

Psalm 37:39in the Message Bible says:

“The spacious, free life is from God, it's also protected and safe. God-strengthened, we're delivered from evil— when we run to him, he saves us.”

No matter how bad the problem or intense the battle, the Creator of Heaven and Earth will deliver us from every evil attack of the enemy.

The Word is clear … when we run to Him, He will save us.

Philippians 1:19in the New Living Translation says:

“For I know that as you pray for me and the Spirit of Jesus Christ helps me, this will lead to my deliverance.”

‘Prayer changes things’ is more than a clever phrase taught in Sunday School classes. It is a powerful, guaranteed vehicle for changing the course of every battle you face.

When you pray . . . you’re no longer fighting your battles alone . . . you’re calling in the cavalry . . . the hosts of heaven to do battle on your behalf.

When you follow the unction of the Holy Spirit . . . you’ll make right decisions instead of ones based on human logic and emotions.

As you seek His direction for the next step you take . . . talk with Him, commune with Him until your path is clear. . . then your deliverance will be at hand.

As we understand the importance of running to Him. . .we hurt the devil. . .we thwart his plans to break our focus. . .and derail our destiny.

2.      Understand the battle you’re facing is not flesh and blood.

Our enemy is not our boss. . .our creditors. . .our next-door neighbor or any human on planet earth. . .regardless of what they’ve done to us or how they’ve treated us.

It’s imperative that we fully understand the source of the attacks against us.

Ephesians 6:12 in the Amplified Bible says:

“For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere.”

Once you can properly identify your enemy you can enlist the assistance of your personal Seal Team. But your team only needs One member to make you successful...a winner every time.

Exodus 23:22 says:

“But if you will indeed listen to and obey His voice … I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries.”

Romans 8:31 in the Amplified Bible says:

“… if God is for us, who [can be] against us? [Who can be our foe, if God is on our side?]”

When we understand who we’re fighting against and who’s fighting for us. . . we can hurt the devil by exposing his tactics.

3.      Boot Camp Preparation.

All new recruits into our armed forces must go to boot camp. This is where they learn the basics of how to be not only a good. . .but an effective solider in any battle against the enemy.

When we focus on the basics of the Word. . .when we received training from our drill instructors (pastors, teachers and mentors) we are hurting the devil.

The greatest asset for the enemy is not an active sinner but an inactive and ineffective Christian who doesn’t understand the authority available to them as believers.

One more thing. . .before any well-trained soldier goes into battle. . .he/she will inspect their equipment to make sure they’re fully prepared to face and defeat every attack of the enemy.

In preparation for spiritual warfare. . .the most important thing you can do is to sanctify yourself for battle.

Joshua 7:13 in the New Living Translation says:

“Get up! Command the people to purify themselves in preparation for tomorrow. For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: Hidden among you, O Israel, are things set apart for the Lord. You will never defeat your enemies until you remove these things from among you.”

How do you purify yourself for battle?

1.      Enter into His presence

2.      Read your instruction manual/battle plan.

3.      Repent

4.      Eliminate any doubt about the outcome of your mission

5.      Receive your forgiveness

6.      Determine who will be in the foxhole with you.

7.      Get out in front of your battle by praising God.

Joshua 3:5 should become our expectation for each new day.

“For tomorrow, Jehovah will do wonders among you.”

If you want to be successful you can never ignore or minimize preparation time.

The price for success is always paid in advance of your victory. . .never after the fact.

A fully trained and properly prepared Christian hurts the devil and minimizes, if not, eliminates the effectiveness of his battle plan against us, as believers.

4.      God’s Word is an indispensable weapon.

You’ve got unlimited access to the most powerful weapons every created. These weapons have more powerful than any bunker busting or nuclear bomb ever created by the mind of man.

These weapons have the potential to bring one person, a family or even an entire nation to their knees in absolute surrender to your Heavenly Commander-in-Chief.

The weapons are:

The Name

The Blood

The Word

The Presence

Your weapons are not carnal. . .but mighty through God to the pulling down of the enemy’s strongholds.

Your weapons prepare you so that NO evil, negative, self-destructive, potential-limiting, self-defeating, morally wrong, ungodly thought can ever stay in your mind.

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 says:

“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”

I certainly can’t say anything more powerful than the words found in Philippians 4:8-9 in the Message Bible.

“Summing it all up, friends, I'd say you'll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.”

I recommend writing out Philippians 4:8-9 on an index card and take it with you during the day if you are suffering from negative thoughts. . .read it at least seven times.

Here’s a better suggestion, memorize the verse because you'll do best by filling your minds with such powerful thoughts that you can reproduce them in your imagination.

When you put into practice what you learned from Him then Proverbs 16:3 (AMP) can be manifested in your life.

Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed.”

You’ve got to know if your thoughts are agreeable to God. . .they’re certainly not agreeable to the devil.

5.      Get in front of your battle.

2 Chronicles 20:17 in the New International Version says:

“You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you.'”

We position ourselves for victory over our enemies by getting out in front of our battles.

King Jehoshaphat positioned the children of Israel for victory by seeking God and sending the praisers out before the battle.

The way to ensure your victory in every situation you’re facing is to praise God. Praise Him for what He has already done in your life . . . when you enter into His presence with praise and thanksgiving . . . the hosts of heaven are unleashed to battle in your behalf.

Your enemies will be confused and flee in the very fear they sought to put upon you.

Praising God. . .releases the host of heaven to minister on your behalf. To bring you peace and comfort.

Not only that. . .we begin to hurt the devil. . .the last thing he ever wants us to do. . .is Praise God. When we do. . .he’s on the next bus out of town.

6.      God has given us authority over all the power of the enemy.

God has given you authority over every lie and attack of the enemy.

Now this is one fact that hurts the devil deeply. . .when we remember we have authority over every lie, attack and ability of the devil.

Luke 10:19 is one of those scriptures we need to continually study. . .so we always remember who we are in Him and in what authority we operate under.

Luke 10:19 says:

“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

The first word in this verse that is translated power is the Greek word exousia. It means “delegated power” or better said “authority.”

The second word translated power is the Greek word dunamis. It means power or “ability.” So notice carefully what God is actually saying. “I give you authority over all the ability of the devil.”

Are you getting a hold of all of this? You have total authority over all the ability of the enemy. Remember, the Lord is assuring you that “…nothing shall by any means hurt you” (Luke 10:19).

The Bible literally says nothing shall hurt you. It also says you have total power (authority) over every lie of the devil. You never have to lose again. You can always conquer and always triumph in all things

Talk about hurting the devil . . . this cuts him to the core.

7.      When we move in faith instead of fear. . .it hurts the devil.

First, God wants us to eliminate all fear of failure

Joshua 8:1says:

“And the LORD said unto Joshua, Fear not, neither be thou dismayed: take all the people of war with thee, and arise, go up….”

Second, God wants us to know that He is our salvation so we have no reason to be fearful or afraid.

Psalm 27:1 says:

“THE LORD is my Light and my Salvation--whom shall I fear or dread? The Lord is the Refuge and Stronghold of my life--of whom shall I be afraid?”

Third, God doesn’t want to us worried or fearful about what might happen tomorrow.

Romans 8:38 in the New Living Translation says:

“…Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.”

Matthew 6:34 in the Message Bible says:

"Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes."

Fourth, an answer to fear that really hurts the devil.

Isaiah 26:3 in the Amplified Bible says:

“You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You.”

The key to maintaining constant and perfect peace is to keep our minds focused completely on God and that’s how we really hurt the devil and stay blessed.
