The Day Everything Changed Forever

. .

What a glorious Resurrection Sunday. That statement is not a reflection on the current weather conditions in your part of the world.

It’s not the sunshine. . .the rain or even snow or the lack thereof that make this a glorious Resurrection Day.

1 Corinthians 15:20-22 in the King James Bible says:

“But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.”

That’s what makes this day and every other day. . .a glorious Resurrection day.

On Easter Sunday several years. . .I sent a text to my spiritual father and mentor, Dr. John Avanzini wishing he and Sister Pat. . .a Happy Resurrection Sunday.

Almost immediately, I received a five-word return text that provoked my thinking.

 

It simply said:

The day everything changed forever

Actually, the text was nine words. . .the last four said: Love you Brother John.

I created a Word document with those five words because I knew someday I would be directed to teach about it.

Let’s talk about days. . .that changed our lives and everything forever.

First, July 4, 1776

The day the Declaration of Independence was signed changed things forever. The signers of this historic document establishing this great Republic did so at great personal peril.

Many of the signers paid for freedom with their own lives and/or those of their loved ones.

Thomas Jefferson wrote:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

Sadly, there are some who seek to deny the influence of God in the founding of this nation and in the Declaration of Independence. Consider the following:

The Declaration states that people “…are endowed by their Creator…”

The Bible declares God to be the Creator.

Isaiah 40:28 in the Amplified Bible says:

“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, does not faint or grow weary; there is no searching of His understanding.”

Genesis 1:1, 27 says:

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. . .So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”

As Creator, God is the one who gave mankind all of the unalienable rights listed in the Declaration.

Genesis 2:7 says:

“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”

God is the giver of liberty.

2 Corinthians 3:17 in the Amplified Bible says:

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (emancipation from bondage, freedom).”

Finally, God has given to mankind the “pursuit of happiness.”

Ecclesiastes 3:13 says:

“And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.”

James 1:17 in the Amplified Bible says:

“Every good gift and every perfect (free, large, full) gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of all [that gives] light, in [the shining of] Whom there can be no variation [rising or setting] or shadow cast by His turning [as in an eclipse].”

July 4, 1776 is the day God changed everything for generations of Americans yet to be born. It was truly a day. . .everything changed.

Second, wars and terrorist attacks change things forever.

On June 28, 1914. . .the world changed forever with the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria which began what we know as World War 1. Before the WW1 ended on November 11, 1918 more than 9 million soldiers and 7 million civilians died as a result of the war.

On December 7, 1941, the Japanese attacked American ships in Pearl Harbor signaling our intervention into World War II which had already been raging for two years. It’s estimated that as many as 75 million people were killed during World War II including 20 million soldiers.

On September 11, 2011, Al Qaeda, a radical Muslin organization was responsible for a coordinated attack on the United States. Over 3,000 innocent civilians were killed on that one day and it changed the United States and our world forever.

Proverbs 3:25-26 in the Message Bible which says:

“No need to panic over alarms or surprises, or predictions that doomsday's just around the corner, Because God will be right there with you; he'll keep you safe and sound.”

Third, inventions that changed the world.

Romans 1:20 in the Amplified Bible says:

“For ever since the creation of the world His invisible nature and attributes, that is, His eternal power and divinity, have been made intelligible and clearly discernible in and through the things that have been made (His handiworks). So [men] are without excuse [altogether without any defense or justification].”

On March 10, 1876 when Alexander Graham Bell spoke the words “Mr. Watson—Come here—I want to see you" our world changed forever and continues to do so with each new electronic gadget and upgrade.

On December 7, 1903, Orville and Wilbur Wright made the first manually controlled, fixed wing, motorized aircraft flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.

On August 6, 1991, the website was build and put online.

Obviously, many other inventions have changed our world and will continue to do so.

Fourth, the day you got born again.

Do you remember the day. . .perhaps even the exact date. . .you ask Jesus to be the Lord of your life?

Were you in church? Watching a minister on television? Talking with a friend?

The day you got born again. . .changed your life now and forever.

John 1:12 says:

“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.”

It’s not enough just to hear the Word. . .you have to act on what you’ve heard.

Romans 10:10 in the New Living Translation says:

For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.”

Your world changed forever the day you began confessing with your mouth.

Fifth, your world changed forever the day you got married and began a family.

The remember the date you got married. It’s important, especially to your spouse if you’re married. . .and if, it’s important to her. . .it’d better be equally important to you.

And just for the record. . .my fine wife Bev and I have been married 45 years 1 month and twelve days as of today’s call.

Why do I remember that date? It’s because it’s the day I have surgery. . .two people became one.

Mark 10:8 Amplified Bible (AMP)

“And the two shall become one flesh, so that they are no longer two, but one flesh.”

We read about the two becoming one flesh again in Ephesians 5:31 in the Amplified Bible which says:

“For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”

I will always remember the day our children were born. . .each occasion was filled with amazing and unforgettable moments.

Sixth, your world changed forever the day determined your purpose in life and began pursuing it with a passion.

Deuteronomy 28:2 says:

“And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.”

Psalm 32:8-9 in the New Living Translation says:

"The Lord says, 'I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you. Do not be like a senseless horse or mule that needs a bit and bridle to keep it under control.'"

Seventh, your world changed the day you realized the promises of God are true and for you.

Your world changed forever. . .the day you realized that God is no respector of persons. . .that what He’s ever done for anyone else. . .He will do for you.

Your world changed forever. . .when you experienced a miracle healing. . .a financial breakthrough. . .an unexpected promotion or bonus. . .a new job. . .a loved one being saved.

Your world will change every day. . .you take a step of faith.

Everything changed for you. . .the day you released the same Resurrection Power that raised Jesus from the dead. . .is flowing through you.

Acts 1:8 says:

“… ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you … (then) ye shall become witnesses … .”         

1 Corinthians 2:5 says:

“That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.”

And yes, the day the Holy Ghost first manifested His presence through your life. . .is a that changed everything forever.
