5 Keys To Being Filled With The Holy Spirit

. .

The Bible says those who hunger and thirst after righteousness will be filled. (Matthew 5:6).  If you are hungry for the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues, here is how to receive this free gift.

1.         Accept Christ.  Accepting Christ is accepting what you cannot do for yourself by accepting what He did for you at Calvary.  That is where He bore the effects of your sins.  It is a process of letting go.  Accepting Christ is admitting you don’t have what it takes to handle everything in life on your own.  It’s admitting you don’t know it all.  It’s releasing a hold on this temporal life to gain everlasting life.

“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”   John 3:36

Humble yourself and pray this prayer to God right now:

God, I need you in EVERY area of my life.  Forgive me now of my sins and for trying to do everything in my own strength.  I accept what I cannot do on my own and I accept all You did for me.  Wash my sins clean with the blood of Jesus shed for me at Calvary.  Come into my heart, dear Jesus.  I accept You now as my Lord and Savior.  Amen.”

You have just stepped out of your weakness and into His strength, His wisdom, His health, His riches, His righteousness and His salvation.  You are now clean in the eyes of God.

2.         Have Faith In God.

“Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes

to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”  Hebrews 11:6 NIV

3.         Recognize that the Holy Spirit is an unearned, undeserved, free gift from God.

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”  James 1:17

“If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children; how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them THAT ASK HIM?”  Luke 11:13

4.         Ask in faith, BELIEVING THAT YOU RECEIVE.  When you believe you receive and the unction [anointing] is there, open your mouth and speak your new language.  Say whatever syllables come to mind.  As you continue speaking, the Holy Spirit will inspire your thoughts.  Speak groanings from your heart, not thoughts from your head.

5.         Do not worry.  It is not necessary that you understand what you are saying because you are speaking directly to God in a language He understands.  Nor should you worry if your speech is not immediately fluent.  Fluency, in all languages, comes gradually and with practice.

“I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also.”  1 Corinthians 14:15

Now, have YOU received the Holy Spirit since YOU believed?  Many people think God will give you this special gift only if He wants you to have it.  But we have already learned that attitude is unscriptural.  Jesus said God is willing to give you the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him even more than a parent will give a gift to a beloved child (Luke 11:13).

If you sincerely hunger for more of God and have met the above conditions, please pray with me:

“God in heaven, I believe the Holy Spirit is a free gift for me.  I ask you now for the gift of the Holy Spirit.  I believe you have heard my prayer.  I believe now that I have received the free gift of the Holy Spirit, and I now open up my mouth.  I believe that out of my belly shall flow rivers of living water that will refresh and strengthen me.  In Jesus’ Name I pray.  Amen.”

Now start speaking in tongues; release your heart.  Speak aloud and let your mind hear your spirit-man speak.  The gifts of the Spirit operate by faith.  Speak first a little syllable, then another.

Practice using your faith every day.  Pray in the Holy Spirit.  The devil will say it is just you; he did that to me and does that to everyone else, too. He is severely weakened by this added power in your life so he tries to make you think you haven’t received it. But give the devil a black eye and say, “It is written.”

You have received many powerful Scriptures now.  You received exactly what you asked from God.  Now pray in the Holy Spirit.
