7 Ways To Avoid Fear In Uncertain Times

. .

Let’s establish an immutable fact. . .I am not a gloom and doom kind of guy.

If you want somebody who’s going to tell you the world is going to hell in a hand basket . . .you’ve got the wrong preacher. . .in fact, the wrong couple.

If you want someone who’s trying to connect all the dots and dates from Daniel and Revelation to prove it’s the end of days. . .you’ve got the wrong man.

Personally, I haven’t spent one minute in the past twenty years wondering or worrying about who the anti-Christ is.

Nor have I spent time fretting over the coronavirus because all that is covered in Psalm 91 which we are about to discuss as well as several other verses in God’s Word.

Are their injustices that need to be corrected. . .of course. . .absolutely. We don’t live in a perfect country. . .for that fact, we live in a far from perfect world. . .but, if this country is so bad. . .why do so many people from other nations want to come here, even if they have to do it. . .illegally.

So in the midst of the turmoil, controversy and dare I say, hatred, we have an amazing amount of surpassing promises we can count on from our God.

And if you don’t get anything else from this teaching tonight, you need to settle it in your mind, spirit and emotions …that at no point in time … EVER … has God started wringing His hands in heaven saying “Wow, I didn’t know this was going to happen.” NEVER HAS HAPPENED –NEVER WILL.

But truthfully, I was a bit surprised when God directed me to write “7 Ways To Avoid Fear In Uncertain Times.”

Let’s set the record straight before I go any further so you will know exactly how I feel.

Is there a vast economic and political conspiracy organized against the people of this and every other country? Absolutely! But the attack has been waged in every generation . . . by none other than the devil himself. He’s out to destroy not only our finances but our hope and confidence in the future.

Do I believe there is going to be a new economic world order replacing the current system? Absolutely! It’s called the end-time transfer of wealth and it’s written about in Proverbs 13:22 in the Amplified Bible which says:

“A good man leaves an inheritance [of moral stability and goodness] to his children's children, and the wealth of the sinner [finds its way eventually] into the hands of the righteous, for whom it was laid up.”

Do I believe that other countries and domestic terrorists (of all political persuasions) are salivating over the prospects of an American economic collapse? Absolutely! The leaders of various totalitarian and terrorist states hate everything about our ‘one nation under God’ and the freedoms we enjoy.

Here are the seven things you can do to avoid fear in uncertain times.

1.      Turn off the negativity of the news and turn on the Word filled with hope

You’ve got a choice. . .you will either believe the report of the world or the report of the Lord.

One of my favorite songs is entitled “Whose Report Will You Believe?”

WHOSE REPORT WILL YOU BELIEVE

WE SHALL BELIEVE THE REPORT OF THE LORD

WHOSE REPORT WILL YOU BELIEVE

WE SHALL BELIEVE THE REPORT OF THE LORD

HIS REPORT SAYS I AM HEALED

HIS REPORT SAYS I AM FILLED

HIS REPORT SAYS I AM FREE

HIS REPORT SAYS VICTORY

Now if I’m healed, filled, free and have the victory. . .why should I be worried about fear of the unknown? All those promises are backed up in the Word of God.

HIS REPORT SAYS I’M PROTECTED

Psalm 91 is what I call the Hedge of Protection chapter. I strongly encourage you to read, meditate and memorize this chapter. However, I feel impressed to share Psalm 91:14-16 with you:

Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.  With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.”

The Message Bible translation of these verses says it this way:

"If you'll hold on to me for dear life," says God, "I'll get you out of any trouble. I'll give you the best of care if you'll only get to know and trust me. Call me and I'll answer, be at your side in bad times; I'll rescue you, then throw you a party. I'll give you a long life, give you a long drink of salvation!"

HIS REPORT SAYS HE ANSWERS MY PRAYERS

Jeremiah 29:12-14 in the Amplified Bible says:

“Then you will call upon Me, and you will come and pray to Me, and I will hear and heed you.   Then you will seek Me, inquire for, and require Me [as a vital necessity] and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will release you from captivity. . .”

HIS REPORT SAYS HE GIVES ME PEACE

John 14:27 in the Amplified Bible says:

“Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.]”

HIS REPORT SAYS HE GIVES ME HOPE WHEN EVERYTHING SEEMS HOPELESS

Jeremiah 29:11 in the New Living Translation says:

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”

The Message Bible translation of Jeremiah 29:11 says:

“I know what I'm doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.”

Let me make this very important statement. It’s very important whose report you believe.

2. Eliminate fear from your life.

Each day. . .ask yourself. . .what’s the biggest fear you faced today.

If you mastered your fear. . .write down what you did to accomplish that worthwhile task.

Just think what you could accomplish if you didn’t deal with fear?

Fear of failure holds people back…and keeps them from maximizing their potential for success.

Fear never comes from God.

2 Timothy 1:7 says:

“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.”

Here are seven quick truths found in this verse.

First, fear doesn’t come from God.

Second, God doesn’t want you timid. . .he doesn’t want you to be a coward when it comes to expressing your Godly opinions and doing what’s right. . .and, he doesn’t want you cringing about the things you think could go wrong.

Third, God has given you a special gift. . .dispensation.

Fourth, God has given you a spirit of power. . .the strength to overcome any and everything.

Fifth, God always wants you acting in love.

Sixth, God wants your life to be calm. . .not living in the tyranny of the urgent and with a well-balanced mind.

Seventh, God wants you living a life disciplined by the Word. . .exercising self-control over the temptations of the enemy.

As you can see. . .there’s much more to the verse. . .than just overcoming and taking dominion of the spirit of fear.

3.      If you’re in debt. . .stop digging the hole.

When times are uncertain. . .many people, including believers spend money they don’t have to make them feel better.

You can try to justify every step you take further into the bondage and the black hole of debt but when do you plan to get out . . . at least stop digging.

If you’re working to satisfy MasterCard’s minimum payments, your money is not your own. Neither is it available to God’s Kingdom because you’re not free to obey His commands. In fact, you have become a slave to the moneylenders.

Proverbs 22:7 in the Contemporary English Version says:

“The poor are ruled by the rich, and those who borrow are slaves of moneylenders.”

Truth is, you’re not free to serve God because you haven’t followed His commands.

If you’re in debt. . .you can’t go where God tells you to go. . .do what God tells you to do or become what He wants you to be.

I want to ask you a question.   “How free are you to serve God?”

When you’re working two jobs just to keep the collection agency from your door, you’re not available to God.

The New Living Translation of 2 Timothy 2:4 says:

“Soldiers don’t get tied up in the affairs of civilian life, for then they cannot please the officer who enlisted them.”

The King James Version says:

“No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.”

The Hebrew word for borrow means “entangle, intertwine.”

When we entangle ourselves with creditors to the point that we’ve lost our freedom to do what God called us to do, then we’re not free and certainly not following His commands.

We have so much stuff we need to take care of, pay for, insure, organize, fix, worry about, and keep track of. . .we’ve lost sight of what God saved us for. It wasn’t just so we could go to heaven when we die. . .it was to obey His commands and be about His business.

When it comes to obeying God’s Word . . . remember.

Financial tools and software will come and go. . .

Investment brokers and counselors will win and lose. . .

Corporate mergers will succeed and fail. . .

Banks will be closed by regulators and new ones opened by investors. . .

The economy will have recessions and depressions. . .

Things can get rocky to the point that you may not know what to do.

There is only one answer on planet earth and it’s found in the Word of God. His love for His children … and His forgiveness for our sins will never change.

If you get serious with Him, He will get serious with you.

Remember what we just read in Jeremiah 29:13 “Then you will seek Me, inquire for, and require Me [as a vital necessity] and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.”

4.      Will you get back the money you lost these past six months?

Absolutely if you take the devil to the court of heaven. . .you can claim seven times what was lost or stolen.

There will be times in life when the enemy takes what belongs to you. He will steal your income, your home, a family member, your time and your health. Don’t hesitate to be aggressive in going after what the enemy has taken.

Proverbs 6:31 says:

“But if he [the thief] be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.”

Joel 2:25 says:

“So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten,
The crawling locust, The consuming locust, And the chewing locust,
My great army which I sent among you.”

Take him to court … the court of heaven that is. Your Father is the righteous judge. Your brother is your defense attorney and you are armed with the Word of God to testify against the one bringing the charges against you, the accuser of the brethren himself

Stick him with the Word just like Jesus did in the wilderness. “It is written.”

Don’t you think the enemy of your soul would think twice before taking what belongs to you. . .as he knows. . .payback is inevitable when you accuse him in the court of heaven.

5.      Prepare yourself for the end-time wealth transfer

God is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34). What He’s promised will come to pass.

Exodus 12:35-36 says:

And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and they borrowed of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: And the LORD gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they lent unto them such things as they required. And they spoiled the Egyptians.”

The New Living Translation of Exodus 12:36 says:

“The Lord caused the Egyptians to look favorably on the Israelites, and they gave the Israelites whatever they asked for. So they stripped the Egyptians of their wealth!”

The Message Bible Translation of Exodus 12:36 says:

“God saw to it that the Egyptians liked the people and so readily gave them what they asked for. Oh yes! They picked those Egyptians clean.”

The New International Version of Exodus 12:36 says:

“The LORD had made the Egyptians favorably disposed toward the people, and they gave them what they asked for; so they plundered the Egyptians.”

Not only were the Egyptians spoiled, stripped, picked and plundered. . .the scripture says the ones who gave away their goods to the Israelites were favorable to this wealth transfer.

The Egyptians had suffered during the ten plagues. . .they even lost their first-born sons. No doubt the Egyptians were ready for the Israelites to be gone … they never wanted to see them again.

The children of Israel were as poor as synagogue mice but they left Egypt as millionaires. That is one serious wealth transfer.

Read Your Bible. . .do what it says . . . to position yourself to be a part of this end-time wealth transfer.

But let us warn you of this one thing. God does not do things the way the world does. Effective steward that allows Christians to increase. As we increase and give, God gives us more in which to give and it has a snowball effect in our finances.

Proverbs 11:24 in the English Standard Version says:

One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want.”

6       Obey God’s economic principles

Deuteronomy 8:18 says:

“But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.”

Malachi 3:10 in the New Living Translation says:

Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!”

The New Living Translation of James 1:27 says:

“Religion that pleases God the Father must be pure and spotless. You must help needy orphans and widows and not let this world make you evil.”

2 Corinthians 9:8 in the Amplified Bible says:

“And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation].”

Every one of the scriptures are in the Bible so you can know exactly how to get blessed. You are blessed or will be blessed so that you can be a blessing to others.

God does not prosper you for the purpose of raising your standard of living. He prospers you so that you can raise your standard of giving. As you raise your level of giving, your standard of living will rise as a result.

These four scriptures among others are the hallmark of God’s economic plans. . .plans which will keep you safe and secure regardless of what’s happening around you.

7. Put Your Hope In the Right Source

If you put your faith and hope in the things of this world. . .you will ALWAYS live in uncertain times.

I’m sad to say the most vocal and violent voices in our society today have no sense of history. And why should they. . .we have allowed educators to stop teaching history.

If you have no idea where you came from you will have no idea where you are going.

But I must step down from that soap box. . .I want to just stick with biblical facts. . .not someone’s opinion. . .including my own.

Here’s a fact.

Hope arises when we take a step of faith.

Hebrews 11:1 in The Living Bible says:

“What is faith? It is the confident assurance that something we want is going to happen. It is the certainty that what we hope for is waiting for us, even though we cannot see it up ahead.”

The scripture says that Jesus became the Word and dwelt among us. (John 1:14)

It’s time for all of us to take steps of faith. . .to gain our hope for miracle manifestation through the Word.

Romans 4:17 in the Amplified Bible says:

“As it is written, I have made you the father of many nations. [He was appointed our father] in the sight of God in Whom he believed, Who gives life to the dead and speaks of the nonexistent things that [He has foretold and promised] as if they [already] existed.

Our faith. . .our attitude. . .our hope in THE WORD will cause nonexistent things into existence.

The King James Version of Hebrews 11:1 says:

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Here’s one of my favorite scriptures.

Jeremiah 29:11 in the New International Version says:

”For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

God wants to give you hope and a future. . .does that sound like He wants you living in uncertainty, fear and doubt. Not a chance.

Job 4:6 in the New Living Translation says:

“Doesn’t your reverence for God give you confidence? Doesn’t your life of integrity give you hope?”

If the answer to both of these questions is yes. . .then you don’t have to worry about uncertain times.

Here’s another choice you get too make.

You can choose to be a worrier or a worshipper. One will shorten your life. . .the other will give you joy in this life and in the life to come.

Worship will open you to His presence where He can direct your next step. Really the choice is a no brainer… if you are a child of the Most High God.

Think about it.
