Create A Miracle Finish To 2020

. .

When I ask believers on daily conference calls or our live streaming broadcasts to determine the #1 hindrance that’s been holding them back from doing what God and they want to accomplish in the remainder of 2020 the answer is almost always the same.

It’s procrastination. . .the inability to make a decision or get started. After considering this problem in prayer. . .we were led to talk about this major basic hindrance on tonight’s broadcast.

God reminded us of Job 22:28 in the Classic Amplified Bible which says:

“You shall also decide and decree a thing, and it shall be established for you; and the light [of God’s favor] shall shine upon your ways.”

When a king made a decree. . .it carried the force of the law with it.  It was always a written document. . .specific in nature. .  bearing his signature. And obeyed without question.

As we read your correspondence. . .it was easy to see. . .there were some who believed without a shadow of a doubt that they would accomplish their goals in 2020.  There were some who wanted to move forward but they were being hindered by fear of COVID19 or a lack of confidence.

An important recorded decree in scripture was by King Cyrus in 536 BC as recorded in 2 Chronicles 36:22-23.  In The Living Bible it says:

“But in the first year of King Cyrus of Persia, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus to make this proclamation throughout his kingdom, putting it into writing:

“All the kingdoms of the earth have been given to me by the Lord God of heaven, and he has instructed me to build him a Temple in Jerusalem, in the land of Judah. All among you who are the Lord’s people return to Israel for this task, and the Lord be with you.”

It’s amazing that in all His wisdom God choose King Cyrus to decree that God’s chosen people would be freed from captivity … especially since he was the son of Queen Esther.

You may be asking what does making a king making a decree have to do with me.

“I’m not a pastor. . .a prophet. . .apostle. . .I’ve never been to seminary. . .I’m just an ordinary person.”

I’m going to say that again. . .in fact, I want you to personalize it and write it down.

<<Your Name>> is not ordinary.

How can we be so sure. . .the Word of God.

Romans 8:14-17 in the Classic Amplified Bible says:

14 “For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

15 For [the Spirit which] you have now received [is] not a spirit of slavery to put you once more in bondage to fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption [the Spirit producing sonship] in [the bliss of] which we cry, Abba (Father)! Father!

16 The Spirit Himself [thus] testifies together with our own spirit, [assuring us] that we are children of God.

17 And if we are [His] children, then we are [His] heirs also: heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ [sharing His inheritance with Him]; only we must share His suffering if we are to share His glory.”

Galatians 3:26:29 in the New Living Translation says:

26 “For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

27 And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes.

28 There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.

29 And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you.”

You are God’s heir and a joint heir with Jesus.

Consider this acrostic for HEIR.

H is for your Godly heritage.

E is for you being empowered by the Word

I is for your infilling of the Holy Spirit.

R is revelation you will receive from His presence.

It’s very important that you fully understand what I’m going to say next.

You are not just a member of a religious group, denomination or church. . .you are much more than one among millions.

You are family. . .you are the child of the King. . .and empowered by His blood and the Word to make decrees.

God wants you to be an agent for change here on planet earth. . .yes, to even make decrees that will alter the course of history for you, your family, your neighborhood, your city, your nation and the world.

You need to decree the things you want to see established in the remainder of 2020.

When the dictionary defines decree as a noun. . .it is defined as:

“an official order given by a person with power or by a government. . .having the force of law”

However, when decree is defined as a verb it means:

“to order or decide (something) in an official way…to command or enjoin…to determine or order”

When you decree a thing. . .you are bringing the thing into alignment with the Word of God.

So much could be said about decrees but be sure to get this.

You have the authority according to God’s Word to decree a thing “on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10) and see it manifest right where you live. . .right where you are.

Once again Job 22:28 in the Classic Amplified Bible begins by saying:

“You shall also decide and decree a thing. . .”

The decision-making process the Lord showed us has helped a lot of folks. . .that’s why we’re going to share with you seven things you should consider in making a decision.

First, the decision is yours.

Let’s look at Job 22:28 once again. . .this time in The Living Bible which says:

You will decide on a matter, and it will be established for you, and light will shine on your ways.”

The only person you should ever allow to make a decision for you is the Holy Spirit.

If you look at all the adjectives describing the Holy Spirit’s role found in the Amplified Bible version of John 14:26, you will see He will help you make every decision… if you let Him.

It’s okay so seek opinions from successful mentors and friends. . .you should also consult with your spouse, if you’re married.

And, yes, being in agreement with a godly spouse is good and the right thing to do.  However, in the final analysis as the scripture says “. . .you will decide on a matter.”

On Judgment Day. . .you. . .not successful mentors and friends. . .your spouse. . .or anyone else will answer for the decisions you make and the actions you take.

Romans 14:12 in the Amplified Bible says:

“So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.”

We will give an account for the decisions we made. . .and frankly, for those we failed to make.

We all want to make right decisions.

But one of the decisions we must make is to change.

“But Brother Harold, I’m doing pretty good. . .why do I need to change?”

It’s a medical fact that if your body must be continually growing new cells because your old cells are dying.  There is no status quo.

The same thing is true spiritually-speaking. . .we should be continually growing in our knowledge and understanding of the Word.  If we’re not growing. . .then we’re backing up and that would make us back sliders.

Somebody once said:

“Change your life today. Don't gamble on the future, act now, without delay.”

Leo Tolstoy, the author once said:

“Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.”

We must make decisions which prompt and promote our spiritual growth.

In order to make a proper. . .godly decision. . .it’s imperative that you create an  environment free from distractions. . .a quiet place.

Choose the proper time and amount of time to relax. . .to clear your mental thought processes from the swirl of what goes on around you daily.

As you relax in His presence. . .a spiritual and mental clarity will be loosed in your life.

It’s also important that we don’t overthink our decision.

Some people overthink every situation to the point they never make a decision.  It’s what the world calls the paralysis of analysis.

If the Holy Spirit has and is directing your decisions then there’s no need for second guessing. . .because the first decision is always the right one.

With the right advice. . .you and I can make the right decisions. . .every time. . .not once in a while. . .but every time.

Proverbs 2:9 in The Living Bible says:

“He shows how to distinguish right from wrong, how to find the right decision every time.”

When we listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit. . .when we obey the instructions in His Word. . .then we will be given wisdom and common sense. . .in order to make the right decisions. . .each and every time.

Proverbs 2:1 in The Living Bible says:

“Every young man who listens to me and obeys my instructions will be given wisdom and good sense.”

Go with your peace. If you are anxious, stop and find out why.

Second, you decide whom you will serve.

1 Corinthians 2:2 in The Living Bible says:

“For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. “

We decide whether we will serve God or man. . .and we do so by decisions we make or fail to make.

Galatians 1:10 in the Amplified Bible says:

“Am I now trying to win the favor and approval of men, or of God? Or am I seeking to please someone? If I were still trying to be popular with men, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ.”

Here’s a revelation. . .if you try to be a people-pleaser you will never please God. Additionally, if you spend your life trying to please other people. . .you will never please yourself.

1 Thessalonians 2:4 in the Amplified Bible says:

“But just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel [that tells the good news of salvation through faith in Christ], so we speak, not as [if we were trying] to please people [to gain power and popularity], but to please God who examines our hearts [expecting our best].”

Our focus must be on pleasing the One Person who gives us not only life abundant but life eternal (John 10:10).

Understand this … when you are doing something greatthere will always be opposition stirred up by the enemy.  If you know you are on the right path, take it as a compliment that you are making a difference.

Sir Winston Churchill once said:

“You have enemies? Good. That means you’ve stood up for something in your life.”

Third, we decide whether to follow God’s instructions in His Word.

Joyce Meyer said:

“We're not like robots. God promises to guide us through the Holy Spirit, but He gives us the freedom to make our own decisions.”

Deuteronomy 26:17 in the Amplified Bible says:

“You have [openly] declared the Lord this day to be your God, [pledging] to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes and His commandments and His precepts, and to hearken to His voice.”

Obeying God’s instructions is a personal decision we make. . .reinforced every moment of every day. . .by what we do or fail to do.

You’ve probably heard or maybe even have said that something was as easy as 1-2-3.  On this particular point. . .it’s as simple as the 1-2-3-4 found in 1 John 2:3-4 in the Amplified Bible which says:

And this is how we know [daily, by experience] that we have come to know Him [to understand Him and be more deeply acquainted with Him]: if we habitually keep [focused on His precepts and obey] His commandments (teachings). 4 Whoever says, “I have come to know Him,” but does not habitually keep [focused on His precepts and obey] His commandments (teachings), is a liar, and the truth [of the divine word] is not in him.”

The decision to follow God’s instructions is. . .as the verse says. . .a daily experience.

Decide today. . .whom you will serve and focus on His instructions and precepts.

Fourth, when you take action on your decisions…your environment begins to change.

When we stop talking about what we’re going to do and start doing it. . .things begin to change.  But more importantly, we’re creating a spiritual inertia . . .where things start happening. . .some expected and some not.

Don’t just talk about it. . . do it.

God sees the actions you take.

Proverbs 5:21 in God’s WORD Translation says:

“Each person’s ways are clearly seen by the Lord, and he surveys all his actions.”

James 2:17 in the Amplified Bible says:

“So also faith, if it does not have works (deeds and actions of obedience to back it up), by itself is destitute of power (inoperative, dead).”

The Message Bible translation of James 2:17 is once again more direct when it says:

“Isn't it obvious that God-talk without God-acts is outrageous nonsense?”

Once you’ve collected the wisdom of the Word. . .and you’ve made a decision. . .be about the business you’ve been called to do.

Fifth, the decisions you make or fail to make…create change…whether desirable or not.

A failure to decide is a decision to fail.

What we do today. . .will determine the reality we experience tomorrow.

It’s not what we think about doing. . .talk about doing. . .it’s what we do with the decisions we make and the actions we take.

Deuteronomy 30:15 in The Living Bible says:

“Look, today I have set before you life and death, depending on whether you obey or disobey.”

It’s really simple. . .if we obey the Word of God. . .failure will be turned into success and impossibilities into possibilities.

When we make a decision which we fail to implement. . .we have made a decision to fail.

A failure is not always someone who tried and failed. . .it may be someone who failed to try.

Finish what you start.

Sixth, when you make a decision…God wants you to keep your word.

If we can’t keep our Word. . .God knows we won’t keep His.

Deuteronomy 6:6 in the New Century Version says:

“Always remember these commands I give you today.”

The scripture is very clear. . .when we give our word. . .God expects us to keep it.

Psalm 50:14 in the Contemporary English Version says:

“I am God Most High! The only sacrifice I want is for you to be thankful and to keep your word.”

Numbers 32:23 in the New Living Translation says:

“But if you fail to keep your word, then you will have sinned against the Lord, and you may be sure that your sin will find you out.”

Wow.  If we fail to keep our word. . .we have sinned against the Lord.

With that understanding. . .once we make a decision and give our word on it, we need to keep it.

Numbers 30:2 in the Contemporary English Version says:

“When one of you men makes a promise to the LORD, you must keep your word.”

This principle is duplicateable.  We must teach those who work with us. . .the importance of keeping their Word. . .once they’ve made a decision.

Seventh, your decisions decide how you will invest your time.

Psalm 90:12 in the Contemporary English Version says:

“Teach us to use wisely all the time we have.”

You decide. . .not somebody else. . .not the passing of time on a clock. . .you decide what you will do with the every minute of every day God has given to you.

Do you have what it takes to turn your TV off. . .mute your cell phone. . .put your computer in sleep mode and either review or create goals for your future success?

Now that would be. . .a wise decision.

One last verse. . .two different translations.

Colossians 4:5 in the King James Version says:

“Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.”

This time Colossians 4:5 in the Amplified Bible says:

“Conduct yourself with wisdom in your interactions with outsiders (non-believers), make the most of each opportunity [treating it as something precious].”

Roy E. Disney, Walt Disney’s brother and partner in business, shared this profound thought:

“When your values are clear to you, making decisions becomes easier.”

Let’s look at Job 22:28 in The Living Bible once more where it says:

“You will decide on a matter, and it will be established for you, and light will shine on your ways.”

If you’ve been living in the land of not enough. . .occasionally traveling through life with just enough. . .then you need to decide that today. . .things are going to change.

Your decision may take courage. . .as you will be living your comfort zone for the last time.

Peter F. Drucker, the business and management guru, said:

“Whenever you see a successful business, someone once made a courageous decision.”

It’s time for each of us to make the courageous decision to change.

It’s time. . .past time for many . . .to make a decision and act on it.

Making a decision. . .taking action is your duty.

Ezra 10:4 in God’s WORD Translation says:

“Get up! It’s your duty to take action. We are with you, so be strong and take action.”

Once you begin making decisions. . .they will become easier.

Now we want you to start decreeing them.

Go to God’s Word. . .find the scriptures that speak clearly to you about the destiny you desire. . .write them down. . .type them out. . .begin to memorize and personalize the verses.

What’s the one thing that always appeared on a king’s decree. . .it was his signature.

By signing your decree. . .you’re saying that you’re coming into agreement with the Word of God. . .and that you’re holding fast till you see the decree manifested in your life.

Now declare your decree out loud.  By doing so. . .you are sending it into the heavenlies.  Let your decree roll off your tongue and into your heart.   Doing so will bring changes to your environment and the reality you’ve been experiencing.

Psalm 2:7 in the Classic Amplified Bible says:

“I will declare the decree of the Lord: He said to Me, You are My Son; this day [I declare] I have begotten You.”

Let’s look at Job 22:28 this time in the Message Bible which says:

“You’ll pray to him and he’ll listen; he’ll help you do what you’ve promised. You’ll decide what you want and it will happen.”

It’s time for you decide and decree that 2020 will be your year of miracle breakthroughs.
