Three Words. . .Blessed, Broken and Multiplied

. .

A few days ago, I was meditating on the word. . .when three words came to my mind.

The Lord directed me to start searching His word. . .as He directed I looked. . .truthfully, for a part of this teaching. . .I was just typing with my eyes closed as He was directing my thoughts into keystrokes on my laptop.

The first thing He said was. . .”let my children know that I want them ‘BLESSED.’”

What does it mean in the natural to be “blessed?”  According to the Roget’s New Millennium Thesaurus” the word blessed has 24 entries:  as a noun, a verb and an adjective.  To be blessed in the human sense is to be:

“happy, blissful, contented, fortunate, joyful, redeemed, saved, welcome, commendable, to be privileged, to possess, to not be in lack, need or want and to be favored.”

In the context of this teaching, the word blessed will mean to not be in lack and to be favored.

The very first thing that God said to Adam and Eve was not. . .

go to church every Sunday,

read your Bible, pray or support world missions although all of these are wonderful.  The first thing He said is found in Genesis 1:22:

“And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.”

Have you had someone say bless you. . .after you sneezed?  That’s nice but let me tell you what’s really spectacular.

In Genesis 12:3 our Heavenly Father explains what His blessing is all about:

“And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”

I love the Amplified Bible translation of that verse. . .

“And I will bless those who bless you [who confer prosperity or happiness upon you] and curse him who curses or uses insolent language toward you; in you will all the families and kindred of the earth be blessed [and by you they will bless themselves].”

Not only is He going to bless you. . .but He will protect you against those who use “insolent language” toward you.

The American Heritage Dictionary defines insolent as “Presumptuous and insulting in manner or speech; arrogant. Audaciously rude or disrespectful; impertinent.”

The point is. . .God will bless you. . .confer prosperity and happiness upon you… curse those who curse you or use insolent language against you.

All the promises and blessings of Abraham belong to you and I according to Genesis 22:18:

“And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.”

Acts 3:25 in the Amplified Bible says:

“You are the descendants (sons) of the prophets and the heirs of the covenant which God made and gave to your forefathers, saying to Abraham, And in your Seed (Heir) shall all the families of the earth be blessed and benefited.”

Are you ready for this………

You are blessed or will be blessed so that you can be a blessing to others.

God does not prosper you for the purpose of raising your standard of livingHe prospers you so that you can raise your standard of giving.

The call of God upon Abraham can be the model for God’s call to us.

Just as God promised to bless Abraham, He also will bless us.  Why does God desire to bless His people? We are blessed to be a blessing to others.

“And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation].  2 Corinthians 9:8  AMP

I’m resisting the temptation to continue teaching about blessed. . .but we must move on to what the Lord is stirring.

16But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.

17And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.

18He said, Bring them hither to me.

19And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

20And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.”  Matthew 14:16-20

In Matthew 14:19 the scripture says that Jesus blessed the loaves and fishes  . . . then He brake it.

This second step is critically important…it’s more than just tearing a piece of bread into more than one piece.  You must become broken before the Lord. . .you must realize that alone you’re not able to accomplish or overcome anything.  Your strength does not come from youwhen we think our intelligence, our ideas, our know-how is all about us, that’s when we get into trouble.

When we think our success lies in our own capability, we’re heading for a fall.  The devil loves pride because it takes our dependence off God and puts it squarely on what will ultimately cause us to fail.

It’s only when you become broken before the Lord can His spirit then begin to move on your behalf.  It’s only after you are willing to stop looking at what you have . . . give up what’s in your hand. . .that you finally realize that in and of yourself. . .you will never succeed.

Remember Joshua 1:8… success is built totally around putting the Word to work in your life.   We can become successful…but it is all based on the Word.  Joshua 1:8 says:

This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success.”

Isaiah 55:8 says God ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts than our thoughts….

It’s when we begin to make His ways our waysour thoughts will become His thoughts.  That’s why it says in vs 11 of Isaiah 55: His Word will not return void…but the Word accomplishes what it’s been sent to do.

It’s only when you place what you have in the Master’s hand and allow Him to move that you will ever have you needs met or supplied.

When you’re broken. . .you come to a place in your life where you realize that the only direction you can go is up and that you can’t make the journey alone…that you will need His help.

Once you’re broken before him. . .then He can begin to move in your life.

“The reward for humility and fear of the Lord is riches and honor and life,” as it says in Proverbs 22:4.

Pride is a part of our fallen nature but James 4:6 teaches:

“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

I noticed a pattern in the scripture.  Matthew 26:26 in the Amplified Bible says that he took the bread. . .blessed it. . .broke it and gave it to the disciples.

Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread and, praising God, gave thanks and asked Him to bless it to their use, and when He had broken it, He gave it to the disciples and said, Take, eat; this is My body.”  Matthew 26:26 AMP

In this instance the disciples became the instruments of His multiplication

The ones who stayed in the Upper Room. . .remember a bunch of folks left when he started talking about this is my body. . .eat and drink my blood in John chapter 6 . . . they hit the door faster than early bird shoppers at the Day after Thanksgiving sale.

What Jesus blessed and broke became the nucleus of the New Testament Church. . .they began leading people to the Lord.

Acts 2:47 in the Amplified Bible Classic says:

Constantly praising God and being in favor and goodwill with all the people; and the Lord kept adding [to their number] daily those who were being saved [from spiritual death

The church starting growing daily. . .when did this start. . .after the Day of Pentecost . . . when the persecution started. . .they separated and multiplied. . .that’s Kingdom math.

Acts 6:7 in the Amplified Bible Classic says:

“And the message of God kept on spreading, and the number of disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem; and [besides] a large number of the priests were obedient to the faith [in Jesus as the Messiah, through Whom is obtained eternal salvation in the kingdom of God].”

When you become broken before God and man. . . the process of multiplication can begin.

Genesis 30:30 in the Amplified Bible says:

“For you had little before I came, and it has increased and multiplied abundantly; and the Lord has favored you with blessings wherever I turned. But now, when shall I provide for my own house also?”

Multiplication can take place in adversity.

“But the more [the Egyptians] oppressed them, the more they multiplied and expanded, so that [the Egyptians] were vexed and alarmed because of the Israelites.” Exodus 1:12 AMP

God will multiply you in every area of your life.

“And when your herds and flocks multiply and your silver and gold is multiplied and all you have is multiplied.”  Deuteronomy 8:13 AMP

God can multiply what you’ve got when everyone around you is decreasing.

“He blesses them also, so that they are multiplied greatly, and allows not their cattle to decrease.”  Psalm 107:38

When you bless God and become broken before Him. . .then your multiplication moves in other areas as well.

“For by me [Wisdom from God] your days shall be multiplied, and the years of your life shall be increased.”  Proverbs 9:11 AMP

God can multiply peace in your life. . .regardless who is in power.  Daniel 4:1 AMP says:

“NEBUCHADNEZZAR THE king, to all people, nations, and languages that dwell on all the earth: May peace be multiplied to you!”

Never forget who brought multiplication into your life.

“The more they increased and multiplied [in prosperity and power], the more they sinned against Me; I will change their glory into shame.”  Hosea 4:7 AMP

When you seek Him. . .God will show you many, many visions of the things He will manifest in your life.

“I have also spoken to [you by] the prophets, and I have multiplied visions [for you] and [have appealed to you] through parables acted out by the prophets.”  Hosea 12:10 AMP

The fruit of the spirit will be multiplied in your life.

“May mercy, [soul] peace, and love be multiplied to you.”  Jude 1:2 AMP

Finally, God will multiply your personal relationship with Him.

“May grace (God's favor) and peace (which is perfect well-being, all necessary good, all spiritual prosperity, and freedom from fears and agitating passions and moral conflicts) be multiplied to you in [the full, personal, precise, and correct] knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.”  2 Peter 1:2 AMP

Now let’s go back to Matthew 14:16-20 which says:

16But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.

17And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.

18He said, Bring them hither to me.

19And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

20And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.”

Every time I read this passage of scripture, I’m reminded of a very powerful message the Lord gave me. . .Never to be hypnotized by the appearance of lack.

There are several things to see in this scripture.

Before things can be Blessed, Broken and Multiplied. . .there has to be order.

19And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass. . .”

First, Jesus brought order to the situation. . .and that’s what you need to do.

If you’re in financial trouble right now. . .you need to bring order to your financial situation.

Have you ever seen a movie, TV program or experience in real life. . .a situation where someone loses their job. . .and their house becomes a wreck. . .looks like it was hit by an internal tsunami.  That’s the worst thing a person can do….

Order never comes out of chaosDiscipline determines your direction.

Second, He started with what He had. . .five loaves and two fishes.  This little boy didn’t just run through Long John Silver’s. . .he had very expensive fish.

You need to start where you are with what you’ve got.

“They have no need to go away:  give ye them to eat.  We have enough

to eat and plenty to share.” (Matthew 14:16)

No matter how deep your debt. . .or intense your despair. . .you have everything God requires to have your needs met and plenty to spare and share with others.  It is interesting to note what the disciples wanted to do to the hungry people was a natural solution of: “send the multitudes away. . ..”

When you take what you have. . .give it to God and ask Him to bless it, break it and multiply it. . .you are taking your problem of insufficiency out of the natural realm and releasing it to the supernatural for a solution..

When you release what you have to God for Him to bless it. . .you are opening the door for supernatural increase.

The scripture is clear. . .if you do this. . .then God will do that.

“Jesus said, "Mark my words, no one who sacrifices house, brothers, sisters, mother, father, children, land—whatever—because of me and the Message will lose out. They'll get it all back, but multiplied many times in homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and land—but also in troubles. And then the bonus of eternal life! This is once again the Great Reversal: Many who are first will end up last, and the last first."  Mark 10:29 MSG

Too many believers think we will only get Heavenly rewards. . .but Luke 18:29 in the Message Bible translation says:

“Yes," said Jesus, "and you won't regret it. No one who has sacrificed home, spouse, brothers and sisters, parents, children—whatever—will lose out. It will all come back multiplied many times over in your lifetime. And then the bonus of eternal life!"
