7 Keys To Receiving At Just The Right Time

. .

Have you ever had something come through at just the right time to meet a specific need?

I know we have. . .

I remember once when our bookkeeper made a mistake which resulted in our owing $14,000 in taxes. . .which we discovered a week before it had to be paid.  And frankly, we didn’t have that amount of cash readily available.

We had nowhere else to go except God. . .and moved on believing God would somehow provide.

We also reminded the Lord that we tithed and gave offerings regularly to keep the windows of heaven open and keep harvests coming in.

I was speaking that next Sunday at a church in southern California. . .it was an incredible service.

Can you imagine my surprise when the Pastor handed me a check for $16,000?  And for preaching a one-hour Sunday morning service?

I discovered later that a man in the church had given $10,000 in the offering in appreciation for advice I had given him a year or so before.  He later told me the advice made him hundreds of thousands of dollars.

This offering was an answer to prayer, and it came through at just the right time in a totally unexpected way.

I also remember the days when someone gave us $20 which was exactly what we needed to finish paying a bill.

Whether the amount is small or large. . .we serve an on-time God who will comes through at just the right time if we stay right with Him.

Receiving at Just the Right Time:

1.      First Things First

Malachi 3:10 in the Contemporary English Version says:

“Bring the entire ten percent into the storehouse, so there will be food in my house. Then I will open the windows of heaven and flood you with blessing after blessing.”

When we fail to tithe and give offerings. . .then we’re robbing God and truthfully, robbing ourselves.

God has given us specific directions about opening the windows of heaven.  If we fail to heed themthen it’s our fault they are not open … not His. .

If we don’t honor His Word. . .God won’t go against His Word no matter how much He loves us.

When we give tithes and offerings regardless of our circumstances . . . then our loving Heavenly Father will flood us with blessing after blessing.

There are no excuses when it comes to tithing.

In reading the Bible, I’ve never seen an * (asterisk) that says Malachi 3:10 doesn’t apply if you’ve lost your job. . .your hours on the job have been reduced . . . the car needs repairs. . .the kid’s school tuition is due. . .or if you’re going through a battle, problem, adversity or circumstance.

The Word of God is not conditional on the basis of the mess we’re in. . .but when applied as written. . .it will deliver us from the mess we’ve made.

There was a singer named Barry White whose song was entitled “You’re my first, my last, my everything.”  That’s a perfect description of our relationship with God.

That’s what God wants and deserves to be to us.  Our first. . .our last. . .our everything.

Proverbs 3:9-10 says:

“Honor the Lord with your capital and sufficiency [from righteous labors] and with the firstfruits of all your income.  So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.”

When we put God first. . .He will give us plenty. . .more than enough.

Notice the spiritual and prosperity progression in this next verse.

Proverbs 3:9-10 in the Amplified Bible says:

“Honor the Lord with your wealth And with the first fruits of all your crops (income); Then your barns will be abundantly filled And your vats will overflow with new wine.”

Honor the Lord with your wealth.

And with the first fruits of your income

THEN

Your barns will be abundantly filled

AND

Your vats will overflow with new wine.

2.      Check on Your Priorities to Make Sure They’re Right

If you were to Google scriptures on priorities. . .almost every listing has Matthew 6:33 first.

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

This verse contains the proper scriptural progression.

Seek ye first the kingdom of God

Seek his righteousness

And

All these things will be added unto you.

Is paying off your mortgage a thing?

Is having all your debts paid in full a thing?

Is having money to send your children or grandchildren to a proper university a thing?

Is having a proper retirement income a thing?  Then “. . .seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.”

I love Matthew 6:33. . .I call it the Success Principle 633.

However, there is another verse which I really like when it comes to priorities.

1 Kings 22:5 in the Amplified Bible says:

“But Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, Inquire first, I pray you, for the word of the Lord today.”

Before you do anything else. . .ask God what He thinks. . .what His priorities are.

What’s your first priority when you wake up in the morning?

Is it to review your to do list. . .to drink your coffee and read the newspaper or scan the headlines online?

If you’re a coffee drinker, by all means get your coffee. . .and by the way, have everything ready each morning so all you have to do is flip the switch.  I do realize some people need their coffee first thing.

Next, spend time with the Lord.  Pray, read and meditate.  Or if you prefer. . .read, pray and meditate.  Ok, you can meditate, pray and read.

If a rendezvous with your Heavenly Father is not your first priority each morning then your priorities are out of whack.

If you want God to show up for you at just the right time. . .you need to show up for Him whenever you start your day.  I’m saying that for all the folks who might work the night shift.

3.      Confess the Word Over Your Seed and Situation

There are times where you just need to have your mouth tell your mind to shut up on the negative thoughts.  The words of your mouth can produce a harvest or they can kill the crop.

It’s critically important what you do between the time you sow a seed and the time that you reap a harvest.  Speak to your seed.

Proverbs 18:21 in the Message Bible says:

“Words kill, words give life; they're either poison or fruit—you choose.”

Never say. . .

“I’ve sowed and sowed. . .when am I going to receive my harvest?”

You must hang on and not give up.  If God directed you to sow the seed and you sowed the exact amount He told you where He directed you to. . .then you will receive a harvest . . .  in His timing … which is right on time.

It’s not a matter of if you will receive the harvest … just when.

Galatians 6:9 says:

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

Have you ever said:

“I thought I heard God.”

“I’ve tithed all my life and yet it seems that nothing is happening.”

“It seems to be working for everybody else, but not for me.”

You Need To Know. . .

The greatest weapon in the enemy’s arsenal of lies and deceptions is doubt.  His primary focus in life is to get you to doubt God and His Word.

There is an old saying “doubt and do without.”

Doubt is an enemy of every promise God made to you in His Word.

Doubt will steal your joy, kill your hope while destroying your dreams.

That’s why each of us needs to create a strong confession over the seeds we sow.

“Father, in the name of Jesus, I command this Holy Spirit led-seed to go where I tell it to go. . .to do what I tell it to do. . .I speak that it will not return void.  In the strong name of Jesus, by the authority of the Word in Matthew 16:19 which says that whatever is bound on earth is bound in heaven. . .I bind any and every hindering spirit that would seek crop failure for the precious seed that I’m sowing.  The Word says in John 16:23 that whatever I ask in your name. . .you will give it to me.  Father, just as a farmer expects a harvest from the seed he sows into the ground. . .I’m claiming my mega harvest over the seed that I’ve sown.  I’m standing in expectation for an immediate bumper crop harvest.  In the name of Jesus, I pray.  Amen.”

Matthew 6:26-33 in the Amplified Bible says:

Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow[seed]nor reap[the harvest]nor gather[the crops]into barns, and yet your heavenly Father keeps feeding them. Are you not worth much more than they?

27 And who of you by worrying can add on hour to[the length of]his life?28 And why are you worried about clothes? See how the liliesandwildflowers of the field grow; they do not labor nor do they spin[wool to make clothing],

29 yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his gloryandsplendor dressed himself like one of these.

30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is aliveandgreen today and tomorrow is[cut and]thrown[as fuel]into the furnace, will Henot much moreclotheyou? You of little faith!

31 Therefore do not worryorbe anxious (perpetually uneasy, distracted), saying, ‘What are we going to eat?’ or ‘What are we going to drink?’ or ‘What are we going to wear?’

32 For the[pagan] Gentiles eagerly seek all these things;[but do not worry,]for your heavenly Father knows that you need them.

33 But firstandmost importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God],and all these things will be given to you also.

Do you know what this scripture is saying?

Nature never hurries, yet everything is accomplished.

Isn’t that what God is saying to us right now?

4.      Be Bold In Spite Of Your Circumstances

Got a mountain of bills?  Then confess Mark 11:23:

“. . .whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.”

Don’t stop talking to your mountain until it’s gone forever.

Speak to your bills. . .command them to be paid in full NOW.

In fact, after you stop watching this broadcast, have a meeting with your bills.  Place them around your living room. . .giving each of them their own place to sit.

Then I want you to say.

“You may wondering why I called this meeting tonight.

“Mortgage not thirty years…seven years or less. . .you’re paid in full.

“Car note. . .not six years. . .two years or less. . .you’re paid in full.

“Citibank credit card. . .your days are numbered. . .I’m paying you off in full.

“Department store bills. . .no more. . .I’m paying you off in full.”

You may think I’m being cute. . .I’m serious.

Let the words of Job 41:11 in the Contemporary English Version will become a reality in your life.

“I am in command of the world and in debt to no one.”

You will also become an example of Romans 13:8 in the Amplified Bible which says:

“Keep out of debt and owe no man anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor [who practices loving others] has fulfilled the Law [relating to one's fellowmen, meeting all its requirements].”

Let’s go a little further on this.  Many who are hearing our voice tonight. . .need to change your mind about how you handle your finances  and how you see your future.

Matthew 3:2 says:

“And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

According to Strong’s Concordance the Greek word for repent is (G3344) and it means:

“to change one’s mind”

The Amplified Bible translation of Matthew 3:2 says:

“And saying, Repent (think differently; change your mind, regretting your sins and changing your conduct), for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

Where a person will spend eternity. . .heaven or hell. . .changes. . .when they change their mind.

Whether we live in lack or surplus. . .changes. . .when we change our mind.

Whatever circumstances we’re dealing with . . . changes. . .when we change your minds.

We need to repent. . .change our minds. . .about our circumstances.

5.      Keep the blessing flow going

Don’t underestimate the enemy; he will try to convince you to stop tithing and stop giving.

It’s simple, make no mistake about what I’m about to say.

If you stop your giving, the windows of heaven will close over your life.  That’s what the enemy wants and that’s the only way the enemy wins.

If the windows of heaven are closed over your life. . .you will not be receiving at just the right time or for that matter. . .any other time.

Luke 17:10 says:

“Even so on your part, when you have done everything that was assigned and commanded you, say, We are unworthy servants [possessing no merit, for we have not gone beyond our obligation]; we have [merely] done what was our duty to do.”

“We have [merely] done what was our duty to do.”

Our tithes open the windows of heaven. . .but our offerings determine the amount, frequency and intensity of the blessing flow.

When we tithe. . .we’re just giving back to God what already belongs to Him.

When we give offerings. . .we’re exercising our faith. . .by putting a demand on His Word.

When it comes to offerings. . .I suggest each of us remember Proverbs 11:24-25 in The Living Bible:

“It is possible to give away and become richer!  It is also possible to hold on too tightly and lose everything.  Yes, the liberal man shall be rich!  By watering others, he waters himself.”

Sowing keeps the blessing flow going.

6.      Understand the value of your seed

Your current economic circumstances determine the value of your seedIt is the most precious when it is scarce.

When the money seed you wish to put into God’s work is scarce, let your faith grow by what God says about it:

Psalm 126:6 says:

He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.”

That verse should give you comfort and boldness to give to God’s work, even in tight financial times

God absolutely guarantees that precious seed will produce a return; His Word says the one who sows it “…shall doubtless come again with rejoicing.

Psalm 126:6 in the Message Bible says it this way:

“And now, God, do it again— bring rains to our drought-stricken lives
So those who planted their crops in despair will shout hurrahs at the harvest, So those who went off with heavy hearts will come home laughing, with armloads of blessing.”

The Message Bible is a favorite translation of mine because . . . you come home laughing . . .with armloads of blessings.

Those who give when it isn’t easy. . .those who sow when it isn’t convenient . . . those who continue to give in the midst of lack. . .will come home laughing with armloads of blessings.

When God looks into the heart, He is not seeing what has been given as much as He’s seeing what’s left after the gift.

We may measure everything by how much the offering is, but Jesus measures an offering by how much is left after it’s given.

Now you know what Our Heavenly Father knows . . .  the real value of a seed.

7.      Your actions now. . .determine your success later.

To live a life knowing that God will always come through for you at just the right time. . .you must be a person of action. . .knowing God sees the actions you take.

Proverbs 5:21 in God’s WORD Translation says:

“Each person’s ways are clearly seen by the Lord, and he surveys all his actions.”

Taking action. . .is pleasing to God.

Philippians 2:13 in God’s WORD Translation says:

“It is God who produces in you the desires and actions that please him.”

When you do what God tells you to do. . .then on Judgment Day you’ll be singing “Oh, Happy Day” instead of “Nobody Knows the Trouble I’ve Seen.”

Take action in creating a plan to make the year 2023 . . .your best ever.

Ezra 10:4 in God’s WORD Translation says:

“Get up! It’s your duty to take action. We are with you, so be strong and take action.”

Take action. . .not just talk about it.

Once you make a decision. . .you need to stop talking. . .and even quit praying if it means you are hesitant to get going. . .and. . .get a move on it.

1 John 3:18 in God’s WORD Translation says:

“Dear children, we must show love through actions that are sincere, not through empty words.”

Taking action. . .brings rewards.

At various times in our lives. . .we may have been rewarded. . .by a parent for good behavior. . .by a teacher for making good grades. . .a coach for a great game. . .by an employer for doing a job well.  But we can’t even begin to imagine . . . the kind of rewards coming for our obedience to God’s direction.

And by the way, God owes NO ONE… we will receive our reward. . .NOW. . .and not just in the sweet bye and bye.

Hebrews 11:6 says:

“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

According to Strong’s Concordance the Greek word for rewarder is (G3406) and it means:

“one who pays wages, a rewarder”

He is one who pays wages to them that diligently seek him.  And we’re not talking about minimum wages either.

And the wages. . .the reward is now. . .as we won’t need them in heaven.

Are you getting this?  God also rewards those who take action on His divine directions.

2 Chronicles 15:7 in God’s WORD Translation says:

“But you must remain strong and not become discouraged. Your actions will be rewarded.”

Jeremiah 17:10 in God’s WORD Translation says:

“I, the Lord, search minds and test hearts. I will reward each person for what he has done. I will reward him for the results of his actions.”

The actions you take must line up with the Word of God.  When you read your Bible. . .do what it says. . .then God will always come through for you.

When you make a concentrated effort on being what He wants you to be and doing or not doing what He instructs you to do. . .then you have positioned yourself to receive His blessings. . .just at the right time.
