This morning I was re-reading Luke 1:34,35, 37,38 and God stirred me to share this Word with you.

“And Mary said: "My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for the Mighty One has done great things for me— holy is his name.”

Mary is praising God. . .giving Him all glory and honor for the great things He has done for her.

Why did God do great things for Mary?

Because she was obedient. . . when it wasn’t convenient.

Because she agreed to do something. . . when her actions would be misunderstood and slandered.

Because she stepped out in faith . . . when it was dangerous and seemed impossible.

“Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. . .For with God nothing shall be impossible. And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.”   Luke 1:34,35, 37,38

Think with me for a moment. God is so amazing that even the birth of Jesus is more than the story of our Savior being born in the earth. . . it is a pattern of faith and manifestation of God’s promises in your life.

Mary knew she had never been with a man. . .so asking “how shall this be” was a logical question.  But . . . she didn’t say, “This can’t happen. . .it’s never been done before.”  Her question was not one of doubt but of inquiry.  She knew there was something about to happen. . .that she’d never experienced before.  Something beyond the natural realm . . . something born of the spirit.

As you meditate on this call. . .you may be facing the most difficult, if not seemingly desperate financial conditions of your life. . .you may wonder how in the world you’ll ever get caught up on your bills. . .let alone get out of debt.

Look for your answer in the example of Mary.

Luke 1:35 in the Contemporary English Version says:

“The Holy Spirit will come down to you, and God’s power will come over you.”

It’s important. . .imperative. . .absolutely necessary that you stop looking at your circumstances. . . and get your focus off the natural mind and into the spirit realm.

We are in this world … but not of it.

 Colossians 2:20 says:

“If then you have died with Christ to material ways of looking at things and have escaped from the world's crude and elemental notions and teachings of externalism, why do you live as if you still belong to the world? [Why do you submit to rules and regulations?...”

John 17:16 in the Amplified Bible says:

“They are not of the world (worldly, belonging to the world), [just] as I am not of the world.”

Child of God, under the unction of the Holy Ghost, I’m saying to you exactly what the angel of the Lord said to Mary, “For with God, nothing shall be impossible to you.”

Then Mary said, “. . . be it unto me according to thy word.”  We must understand that this statement of faith. . .was dangerous for Mary.  In Mary’s day, a pregnant unmarried woman . . .would be stoned to death for her sins.  Period. Paragraph. 

But there was no fear in Mary’s voice. . . no doubt. . .just faith.  She must have certainly understood the consequences in her young mind. . .but she was following the Word of God.

To get out of debt. . .to move from lack to abundance. . .you’ve got to be willing to follow God’s Word and the direction of the Holy Spirit.

When finances are tough. . .

The world will say you shouldn’t tithe. . .the Word says you never stop tithing.

Malachi 3:10 in the Amplified Bible says:

“Bring all the tithes (the whole tenth of your income) into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and prove Me now by it, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”

The world system moves people by fear. . .the Word of God says to ‘fear not!’

2 Timothy 1:7 in the Amplified Bible says:

“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.”

The world will say to stop planting your precious seed into ministries. . .the Word says that precious seeds sown in the midst of a financial famine will bring you armloads of blessings.

Psalm 126:5-6 says:

”They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.  He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.”

The Message Bible translation of Psalm 126:5-6 says:

 “. . .  So those who planted their crops in despair will shout hurrahs at the harvest,  So those who went off with heavy hearts will come home laughing, with armloads of blessing.”

The world will imply things appear hopeless. . .the Word of God says He is hope.

Lamentations 4:17 in the Contemporary English Version says:

“Our eyes became weary, hopelessly looking for help from a nation that could not save us.”

Psalm 62:5 in the Message Bible says:

“God, the one and only— I'll wait as long as he says. Everything I hope for comes from him, so why not? He's solid rock under my feet, breathing room for my soul, An impregnable castle: I'm set for life.”

Always remember the words of Jeremiah 27:5 in the New Living Translation which says:

“With my great strength and powerful arm I made the earth and all its people and every animal. I can give these things of mine to anyone I choose.”              

If you want God to do great things in your life in 2025. . .if you want Him to choose you to do great things for . . . miraculous things in 2025. . .then your confession should be the same as Mary’s “. . . be it unto me according to thy word.”

My prayer for you as we prepare not only for a new year is the same as is found in Luke 1:35 in the Contemporary English Version which says:

“The Holy Spirit will come down to you, and God’s power will come over you.”

This year. . .the change in your attitude. . .that changes the direction of your life will be the real Christmas Miracle of 2024. . .and God’s power will come over you.
