3 John 2 KJV

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”

Deuteronomy 8:18 very clearly proclaims that God “has given us the power to get wealth.” He even states His purpose for our ability “…that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.”

1 Corinthians 10:13 KJV

“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but Godis faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”

1.      God will never use money to worry us.

David Geffen, music magnate said:

“Anybody who thinks money will make you happy, hasn’t got money.”

Matthew 6:25 AMPC

“Therefore I tell you, stop being perpetually uneasy (anxious and worried) about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink; or about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life greater [in quality] than food, and the body [far above and more excellent] than clothing?”

Matthew 6:27 NIV

“Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”

Philippians 4:6 AMPC

“Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.”

Philippians 4:19 KJV

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

Jerry Seinfeld, the comedian said:

“Dogs have no money. Isn’t that amazing? They’re broke their entire lives. But they get through. You know why dogs have no money? No Pockets.”

2.      God will not use money to corrupt us.

James 4:3 AMPC

[Or] you do ask [God for them] and yet fail to receive, because you ask with wrong purpose and evil, selfish motives. Your intention is [when you get what you desire] to spend it in sensual pleasures.”

Randy Alcorn, noted Christian author said:

“God is the greatest giver in the universe, and He won’t let you outgive Him.”

2 Samuel 7:3 MSG

“Before long, the king made himself at home and God gave him peace from all his enemies. Then one day King David said to Nathan the prophet, “Look at this: Here I am, comfortable in a luxurious house of cedar, and the Chest of God sits in a plain tent.”

2 Samuel 7:11 AMPC

“And as from the time that I appointed judges over My people Israel; and I will cause you to rest from all your enemies. Also the Lord declares to you that He will make for you a house.”

2 Samuel 7:16 AMPC

“And your house and your kingdom shall be made sure forever before you; your throne shall be established forever.”

Psalm 50:12 in the New International Version says:

“If I were hungry I would not tell you, for the world is mine, and all that is in it.”

3.      God will never use money to build our egos.

Pastor and author John Piper said:

“Wise people know that all their money belongs to God.”

John Piper also said:

“The person who thinks the money he makes is meant mainly to increase his comforts on earth is a fool, Jesus says. Wise people know that all their money belongs to God and should be used to show that God, and not money, is their treasure, their comfort, their joy, and their security.”

Remembering this next sentence will help keep us balanced.

“Lord. Help me to always remember what is important. . .not money in the bank but Jesus in my heart.”

Matthew 6:19-20 NLT

“19 Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal.”

4.      God will not cause Christians to hoard.

Proverbs 21:20 TLB

“The wise man saves for the future, but the foolish man spends whatever he gets.”

Dr. Billy Graham once said:

“God has given us two hands—one to receive with and the other to give with. We are not cisterns made for hoarding, we are channels made for sharing.”

James 2:15-17 AMPC

15If a brother or sister is poorly clad and lacks food for each day, 16And one of you says to him, Good-bye! Keep [yourself] warm and well fed, without giving him the necessities for the body, what good does that do? 17So also faith, if it does not have works (deeds and actions of obedience to back it up), by itself is destitute of power (inoperative, dead).”

James 2:17 MSG

“Isn't it obvious that God-talk without God-acts is outrageous nonsense?”

James L. Kraft, the founder of Kraft Foods once said:

“The only investment I ever made which has paid consistently increasing dividends is the money I have given to the Lord.”

5.      God will not use money to satisfy every whim and desire.

Charles Spurgeon, the renowned English Pastor once said:

“You say, ‘if I had a little more, I should be very satisfied.’ You make a mistake. If you are not content with what you have, you would not be satisfied if it were doubled.”

James 4:3 KJV

“Ye ask and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.”

Proverbs 11:24 AMPC

“There are those who [generously] scatter abroad, and yet increase more; there are those who withhold more than is fitting or what is justly due, but it results only in want.”
