Here are the seven reasons not to freak out.

1.       When you freak out. . .God’s not in charge.

I Peter 3:10-11 KJV

"Let him who means to love life, and see good days, seek peace and pursue it."

Deuteronomy 29:5-6 CEV

“I did these things so you would realize that I am your God." But the LORD must give you a change of heart before you truly understand what you have seen and heard.”

John 13:3 GWT

“The Father had put everything in Jesus’ control. Jesus knew that. He also knew that he had come from God and was going back to God.”

Philippians 2:5 NLT

“You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.”

Galatians 5:25 AMPC

“If we live by the [Holy] Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. [If by the Holy Spirit we have our life in God, let us go forward walking in line, our conduct controlled by the Spirit.]”

2.       When you freak out. . .you lose mental and emotional control.

Romans 8:9 AMPC

“But you are not living the life of the flesh, you are living the life of the Spirit, if the [Holy] Spirit of God [really] dwells within you [directs and controls you]. But if anyone does not possess the [Holy] Spirit of Christ, he is none of His [he does not belong to Christ, is not truly a child of God].”

Romans 8:8 NLT

“That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God.”

James 1:19 AMPC

“Understand [this], my beloved brethren. Let every man be quick to hear [a ready listener], slow to speak, slow to take offense and to get angry.”

Romans 8:9 GWT

“But if God’s Spirit lives in you, you are under the control of your spiritual nature, not your corrupt nature. Whoever doesn’t have the Spirit of Christ doesn’t belong to him.”

Proverbs 11:9 AMPC

“With his mouth the godless man destroys his neighbor, but through knowledge and superior discernment shall the righteous be delivered.”

3.       Freaking out never solved a problem.

James 1:2-4 ESV

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds,  for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.  And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”

Philippians 4:6 AMPC

“Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.”

God solves your problems.

You had a sin problem. . .He solved it.

John 3:16 KJV

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

You had a sickness problem. . .He solved it.

1 Peter 2:24 KJV

You had a people problem. . .He solved it.

Acts 2:47 AMPC

“. . . Constantly praising God and being in favor and goodwill with all the people.”

You had a financial problem. . .He solved it.

Galatians 6:7 AMPC

“Do not be deceived and deluded and misled; God will not allow Himself to be sneered at (scorned, disdained, or mocked by mere pretensions or professions, or by His precepts being set aside.) [He inevitably deludes himself who attempts to delude God.] For whatever a man sows, that and that only is what he will reap.”

4.       When you freak out. . .you affect everyone around you.

2 Peter 3:11 AMPC

“Since all these things are thus in the process of being dissolved, what kind of person ought [each of] you to be [in the meanwhile] in consecrated and holy behavior and devout and godly qualities.”

1 Corinthians 8:12 AMPC

“And when you sin against your brethren in this way, wounding and damaging their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.”

Luke 17:1-2 AMPC

And [Jesus] said to His disciples, Temptations (snares, traps set to entice to sin) are sure to come, but woe to him by or through whom they come! It would be more profitable for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were hurled into the sea than that he should cause to sin or be a snare to one of these little ones [lowly in rank or influence].”

Isaiah 58:8 NEB

“Then your light will shine like the sunrise; your restoration will quickly arrive; your godly behavior will go before you, and the Lord’s splendor will be your rear guard.”

5.       Never freak out about things that don’t really matter

Dr. Seuss said:

“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”

Pastor Francis Chan said:

“Our greatest fear should not be of failure or of succeeding at things in life that don’t really matter.”

6.       When you freak out. . .you’re focusing on the problem instead of the solution.

Exodus 18:19 NIV

"Listen to me. I'll give you some advice, and may God be with you. You must speak to God for the people. Take their problems to him.”

1)       Identify the problem

Albert Einstein once said:

“If I had an hour to solve a problem, I'd spend 55 minutes thinking about the problem and five minutes thinking about solutions.”

2)       Prayer

James 5:16 AMPC

“. . . The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].”

3)       Identify the cause

Albert Einstein once said:

“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”

G.K. Chesterton, the theologian, once said:

“It isn’t that they cannot find the solution. It is that they cannot see the problem.”

4)       Identify several possible solutions

“Anonymous” once said:

“A positive attitude may not solve your problems -- but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.”

5)       Pick the Best Solution

Colossians 3:15 AMPC

“And let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds, in that peaceful state] to which as [members of Christ’s] one body you were also called [to live]. And be thankful (appreciative), [giving praise to God always].”

6)       Devise a plan with a specific timeline

Proverbs 16:3 AMPC

“Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed.”

7)       Inspect what you expect

2 Corinthians 13:5 AMPC

“Examine and test and evaluate your own selves to see whether you are holding to your faith and showing the proper fruits of it. Test and prove yourselves [not Christ]. Do you not yourselves realize and know [thoroughly by an ever-increasing experience] that Jesus Christ is in you—unless you are [counterfeits] disapproved on trial and rejected?”

Psalm 34:19 NCV

“People who do what is right may have many problems, but the Lord will solve them all.”

7.       Freaking out. . .doesn’t become you.

Matthew 9:27-31 MSG

“As Jesus left the house, he was followed by two blind men crying out, “Mercy, Son of David! Mercy on us!” When Jesus got home, the blind men went in with him. Jesus said to them, “Do you really believe I can do this?” They said, “Why, yes, Master!” He touched their eyes and said, “Become what you believe.”

Romans 6:16 in AMPC

“Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.”
