My Three Highest Priorities

My Three Highest Priorities

We must set priorities.

The successful Christian understands priorities.

have found my three highest priorities in the Kingdom of God.

1. The Word of God:

I grew up in a Spirit-filled church.

They taught me to love Jesus, be filled with the Holy Spirit, believe in miracles, and bring other people into the Kingdom.

They did not teach me to love the Word of God.

The word of God is not optional, but completely necessary.

When you read the Bible you begin to learn the will of God.

Faith begins where the will of God is known.

Many of the people in my home church had very little formal education and struggled with reading. That caused them to believe they could not understand the Word of God.

I do believe they were very sincere Christians. They just never had the blessing they could've enjoyed had they valued the Word properly.

In 1977 I heard a friend on radio. He said, "There are 1189 chapters in the Bible. I read the Bible completely through every 30 days by reading 40 chapters a day."

His statement caused faith to come alive in me.

Immediately, I started reading 40 chapters a day.

Within 90 days I had read the Bible through three times.

Everything in my world began to change. I started seeing the world as Jesus sees it, instead of through my own limited understanding and prejudices.

Not everybody has the ability, interest or time to do this.

During the time this technique came alive to me, I was traveling in music ministry.

We toured by private bus and I had hours a day to spend in prayer and Bible reading.

I have never been the same.

I love what the Bible says about itself.

God Values His Word More Than His Name. "I will worship toward Your holy temple, and praise Your name for Your lovingkindness and Your truth; for you have magnified Your word above all Your name." (Psalm 132:8).

•The Word Brings Self-Awareness. “God's word is alive and powerful! It is sharper than any double-edged sword. His word can cut through our spirits and souls and through our joints and marrow, until it discovers the desires and thoughts of our hearts,” (Hebrews 4:12).

Sharp is slang for smart.

The Word is sharper than we are.

The Holy Spirit uses the Word of God to reveal our own thoughts and intentions. He helps us to discover and understand ourselves through the Word.

•The Word of God Must Be Received as What it is. “For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe),(1 Thessalonians 2:13).

A). The word of God is supernatural.
B). It can only produce at its highest level when it is believed to be supernatural.

•The Word Keeps us From Sin. “Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You,” (Psalm 119:11).
A) The word of God speaks.
B). It constantly reminds us of the direction we should walk, the way we should conduct ourselves as believers.

•The Word of God is a Source of Power. “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God,” (1 Corinthians 1:18).
A). The Word of God is foolishness to the unsaved.
B). The Word of God saves us from bad decision making.

2. The Holy Spirit:

Holy Spirit is a person.

He is not wind. But He moves like a refreshing breeze.

When life gets too hot to handle, He cools you off.

He can be a hurricane against your enemies.

He is not fire, but has the characteristics of fire.

He can warm something cold, or burn up (consume) something like sin.

He is not a dove, but he moves with the grace of a dove.

•He Gives Us the Power to Witness. “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth,” (Acts 1:8).
A). Witnesses.
B). Of what? His goodness.
C). “...the goodness of God leads you to repentance,” (Romans 2:4

•He is a Teacher and Reminder. “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you,” (John 14:26)
A). He leads us in the pathway of truth.
B). He reminds us of what we need to know during moments of trouble.

•He Reveals Truth. “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come,” (John 14:12-13).
A). There are different levels of truth.
B). Holy Spirit reveals these different levels of truth.
C). The Holy Spirit, speaking under the authority of Jesus, takes us deeper into the things of God.
D). Please note that He also reveals the future to those who ask in faith.
E). He does this through the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

•Holy Spirit Reveals and Glorifies Jesus. “He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you,” (John 16:15).
A). Jesus is our Savior.
B). It is impossible to understand this truth without revelation.
C). The Holy Spirit reveals the way to salvation, and glorifies Jesus as Savior.

•He Empowers Ministers to Speak. “These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual,” (1 Corinthians 2:13).
A). I’m thankful for wise people.
B). I am even more thankful for the wisdom of the Holy Spirit.
C). Everything I do for God comes through knowledge of His Word and by His Spirit.

3. My Financial Seed:

I’m a tither and a giver.

I grew up in rural poverty. We were farmers.

We never went w/o food, but we had little else.

I've never done without in any area since the first year I was a tither.

•The Tithe Means I've Conquered Greed. “Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings,” (Malachi 3:8).
A). My first 10% goes to God. Tithing is proof of relationship.
B). Tithing proves God is first in my life and ministry.
C). Like Moses learned on the mountain, when the pattern is right the glory of God falls upon us.
D). My bank card or check authorizes people to take a certain amount of money from my account.
D). My tithe authorizes something even more powerful. My tithe authorizes God to bless me.

•You Only Get Out of a Thing What You’re Willing To Put Into a Thing. “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you,” (Luke 6:38).
A). The Bible does not say pray, it says give.
B). We only get a good result when we do the right thing.
C). Three more facts:

1) We get what we’ve given;

2). We get more than what we’ve given;

3). We only receive after we have given.

•Sow to God First and Receive a Dynamic Harvest “Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the firstfruits of all your increase; So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine,” (Proverbs 3:9).
A). The tithe applies to every form of increase.
B). Note the barn has plenty, the vats are overflowing.
C). Overflow, super abundance comes to those who obey.

Sowing and Reaping is the Oldest Law in the Bible.

It was established first for a reason: When I Put God First, He Puts Me First.

“Seed In the Barn Will Never Produce a Harvest In The Field.,” —-Rev. Bev Herring

My Seed May Leave My Hand, But it Never Leaves My Life.

Kimberly was a hardworking Christian who had no money. She had never made more than $100.00 per day. She heard me say, “Tithing is the only place in the Bible where God says ‘Try Me and see if this will work for you.’”

She dared to believe. Now she makes over $150.00 per hour...not per day. Per hour. Her company also gives her $200.00 each day to pay her expenses.

Can we see that God is great?

I have many more testimonies, but I will only share one.

Violet was a beautiful woman of 66 years. She asked me about sowing a large offering. She owed four more years of payments on her house.

She said, “Pastor I’m not working because I want to. I’m working because my husband died and we had a lot of bills we had accumulated during our life together.“

She told me Halliburton had bought out the small East Texas all company she worked for. They had asked for a meeting on Monday morning. She was concerned they were going to release her.

She called late Sunday night asking if I could meet her at 7 AM in the church parking lot. Without asking why, I agreed to do so. When I got there, she had written out a check for slightly more than $2800. I asked her what it was, she said “I heard you speak about sewing a battle seed when you were in a time of struggle and you testified how God brought you a great financial victory.”

“I want to do that same thing. This is all the money I have, including my savings. I want you to deposit it first thing this morning in the church account before Halliburton meets with me at 10 AM. I want the confidence of knowing my Seed is working for me.”

She called me from her automobile slightly after 5 PM. She said, “Pastor can you meet me in the church parking lot again?“

We met and I asked her, “Did you keep your job?“

She handed me another check for $5,500., and said, “Yes, I kept my job. But the story gets better. They said, ‘We know nothing about this company. Will you stay if we give you a 30% raise and a $50,000 retention bonus with the understanding you will work for us for another five years with a guaranteed minimum raise of 20% per year?”

Violet agreed, was greatly blessed and continued to bless others. The last time I saw her she said, “Thank you for teaching me the blessings of God. I’m going to outlive my money!”

It started with the momentum created by the tithe and the power released through seed-faith offerings.

Money is more important than you’ve been taught.

1. My Seed may leave my hand, but it never leaves my life.
2. It goes into my future where it creates what I need when I get there.
3. When I arrive to my future I discover provision has already been made.
4. My Seed has even been speaking for me. It has created favor for me with people I didn’t know.
