A Fresh Look At July 4th by Bev Herring

Written by Bev Herring. Posted in RichThoughts

In 2011, I preached a sermon at a Wisdom Center Women’s Meeting for Dr. Mike Murdock entitled “How to Make America Great Again.”

That was my title long before Donald Trump ran for president and made a catch phrase of Make America Great Again

It’s no myth … but a proven fact that this country was made great and would not even exist were it not for God. That may seem like a bold statement but there are volumes of historical facts to back it up.

Since we are about to celebrate our 242nd anniversary of the Declaration of Independence this teaching is one part history lesson and one part call to action … so we can remain One Nation under God.

The United States of America is and has always been a country like no other.

Former Prime minister Margaret Thatcher of Great Britain once said, “Europe was created by history, America by philosophy.”

There are so many ways God was directly involved in our country but here are five strong ones.

The Power To Change Your Destiny

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in RichThoughts

Sometimes we fail to recognize when we are changing or being changed...by the people or circumstances around us.

There are seven things we need to recognize for they give us the power to change our daily lives and our destiny on planet earth.

1.         Recognize your Enabler

God gives you the breath of life. . .PLUS He enables, enlightens, empowers, equips and energizes you with everything you need to fulfill your destiny.

As a born-again believer you are the recipient of the power of God.

At your disposal you have the nine power gifts of the spirit. . .found in1 Corinthians 12:1-11.  You also have the motivational gifts of the spirit.  Romans 12:6-8.

And the very good news is that God doesn’t want you to miss how much good these gifts can help you.

1 Corinthians 12:1 in the Amplified Bible says:

“NOW ABOUT the spiritual gifts (the special endowments of supernatural energy), brethren, I do not want you to be misinformed.”

2.         Recognize your opportunity

Making This Day...Your Best Day Ever

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in RichThoughts

One of my favorite signs says:

“Good morning!  I’ll be handling all your problems today.  So relax and enjoy your day.  Love, God. P.S. I love you.”

Someone once said:

“Do not face the day, until you have faced God in prayer.”

When you woke up this morning. . .did you expect this to be your best day ever?

What is your expectation for the today?  Is it different than yesterday or the day before?

Do you have any expectation or are you just glad that you made it through another night?

Do you expect to feel better today than you did yesterday?

Seven M's To Your Personal Success

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in RichThoughts

I was channel surfing when I came across an old James Bond movie entitled “Tomorrow Never Dies.” I joined the movie in a scene where Bond is talking with M, the head of MI6, the British Secret Service.

As I was thinking about the ever-enterprising M. . .I started thinking about the seven M’s to your personal success.

This teaching will be more nutritious for you. . .than all the M & M (I like the peanut ones) you could ever eat. And yes, I do like M & M’s because sometimes you feel like a nut and sometimes you don’t.

Okay, let’s get serious about the seven “M’s.”

1.         Mindset.

The Word of God can perform surgery on our brains with more precision and better results than any neurosurgeon ever could. The Word changes our mindsets.

Hebrews 4:12 in the New Living Translation tell us:

Making The Word Work For You

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in RichThoughts

Unfortunately, some believers don’t know how or don’t do what they know to do. . .in order to make the Word work for them.

As I was reading Isaiah 55:11 my spirit was stirred to write “Making The Word Work For You” based on that scripture in the Classic Amplified Bible.

“So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”

You can’t send forth what you don’t know.

Your mouth can’t speak and send forth what you heart doesn’t understand.

But you can better understand how it works when you look at the verse in greater detail.

# 1       “So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth. . .”

The Word that goes forth. . .is not in written form. . .but the spoken Word.

And these are not just any words. . .they’re the words of God from the Word of God.

You're Royalty ... So Live A Life Of Significance

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in RichThoughts

I want you to read and say the next sentence out loud.

God wants me to live a life of significance.

Now I want you to write that sentence down.

God wants me to live a life of significance.

To live a life of significance. . .does it mean you were one of the 600 guests invited to royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle? NO! Does it mean you were one of the 2,500 people invited on the grounds of Windsor Castle? Absolutely not!

Before going any further. . .let us clear the air.

You are a royal. . .you’re the child of the King. . .not just any king but The King of Kings.

As it says in 1 Peter 2:9 you are a royal priesthood and you been called to show others the goodness of God. . .and that means you have royal blood flowing through your veins.

Can somebody says “Hallelujah.”

I Can Only Imagine...How About You?

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in RichThoughts

Several months ago, we went to see an amazing, emotional and powerful movie entitled “I Can Only Imagine.”

It’s the story of Bart Millard of the Mercy Me musical group. The movie tells the story of a young man verbally and physically abused by his father. . .and their journey to a restoration that only God could cause to happen.

I won’t take the time to tell you more about the movie. . .I’ll just say. . .go see it or buy the DVD when it comes out on June 12th, Father’s Day.

The highlight of the movie is when Bart moved by emotion over his father who had just passed and gone to heaven. . .wrote the song “I Can Only Imagine.”

Here are the first two verses of the song.

Why God Wants You Successful

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in RichThoughts

There is absolutely, no doubt that God wants you manifesting biblical success in your life.

It’s important to understand the significance of biblical success. . .that’s where you and everyone around you. . .recognizes that God makes you successful.

Deuteronomy 30:9 in the New Century Version says:

The Lord your God will make you successful in everything you do. You will have many children, your cattle will have many calves, and your fields will produce good crops, because the Lord will again be happy with you, just as he was with your ancestors.”

Did you notice that first sentence in this passage of scripture says: “The Lord your God will make you successful in everything you do. . .”

First off, He’s not just any God. He’s your God. . .your personal God, the one who has your picture on His refrigerator. Yes, He loves you that much!

Second, He will make you successful in EVERYTHING you do. Not just some things. Or the most pressing or important things. No, He, the Lord God Almighty, is going to make you successful in ALL you do.

The key to our biblical success is our obedience to His instructions.

Joshua 1:7 in the New Century Version says:

Follow The Red Dot To Your Future

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in RichThoughts

I’ve been to a dozen county fairs, 3 state fairs, 2 World’s fairs, a White House state dinner and more shopping malls than I can count.

In traveling over six and a half million miles with just American Airlines. . .I quite often found myself in a strange and sometimes very large mall looking for a particular store.

The first thing I look for is the big board which displays all the stores and gives their particular number so customers can more easily find them.

Next, I look for the big red dot on the board so I can know where I am. Hopefully, the red dot will provide a clear route of travel to my desired destination. Sadly, sometimes things didn’t work quite that easily.

What about the red dot in your life? Do you know where you are or more importantly where you’re going?

Here are seven ways to find the red dot.

1.         You’ve Got To Know Where You’re At.

As I’ve shared before. . .I never read Alice In Wonderland until I was an adult. It’s not that I had a deprived childhood . . .but the book didn’t float my boat as a young boy.

You Are Strong, Important And Necessary

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in RichThoughts

This morning on Rich Thoughts For Breakfast I referred to 1 Corinthians 12:22 without quoting it. After the call. . .that verse kept stirring in my spirit.

I vividly remember the first time I heard 1 Corinthians 12:22 in the New Living Translation. I immediately knew it was a verse that should be taught and/or quoted on a regular basis.

I knew God would use this verse to touch and change people’s lives who feel they are weaker or less important to Him as others.

The entire verse of 1 Corinthians 12:22 in the New Living Translation says:

“In fact, some parts of the body that seem weakest and least important are actually the most necessary.”

As I was re-reading that verse God immediately gave me seven reasons why you and every other believer are strong, important and necessary to the Body of Christ.

Before getting to the seven reasons you are necessary I want to share 1 Corinthians 12:22 in two other translations.

First, the Contemporary English Version of 1 Corinthians 12:22, says:

"In fact, we cannot get along without the parts of the body that seem to be the weakest."

Second, the New International Reader’s Version of 1 Corinthians 12:22, says:
