You Get Better At It Every Day

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in RichThoughts

God loves it when we pull close to Him. . .He wants us reading and obeying His Word.

He wants us moving from glory to glory in His marvelous image.  During a recent Rich Thoughts for Breakfast we taught from Revelation 2:29 in the Message Bible.  The Lord used that scripture to show me seven keys of getting better in our spiritual walk every day.

Now, He directed me to put some meat on the bones of the seven points and share it with our world-wide Internet audience on Sunday Night LIVE.

But first, the letter to the church at Thyatira is the LONGEST of the seven letters, but was written to the smallest and seemingly least important of the seven cities. The point is God cares about each and every one of us.  No one is ever left out.

Here’s our primary scripture for this teaching.

Revelation 2:19 in the Message Bible says:

Alive With Resurrection Power

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in RichThoughts

One of my favorite Easter songs is “He’s Alive” by Ray Boltz. It’s a powerful narrative of the Resurrection and it always gives me glory bumps.

The chorus says:

He's alive, He's alive

He's alive and I'm forgiven

Heaven's gates are open wide

Can somebody say Hallelujah!!!

1 Corinthians 15:20-22 says:

“But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.  For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.  For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.”

As I was meditating on this scripture. . .I felt the Lord leading me to write on this passage.   At first, I wasn’t sure exactly what he wanted me to write about.

Did He want me to write about how Resurrection Sunday should be celebrated 52 weeks a year?

7 Keys To Overcome The Charlie Brown Complex

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in RichThoughts

Do you want to be an effective witness for the Lord?  Of course, you do.

So what’s the key?

Handing out tracts in the workplace or leaving them wedged in the mirrors of public restrooms.  Maybe for some.

How about telling people how Jesus has changed your life?  Okay, we’re on the right track.

What about when you laugh and sing praises to our Lord?

Can that be an effective witness for the Lord?

Yes, according to Psalm 126:2 in the Classic Amplified Bible which says:

“Then were our mouths filled with laughter, and our tongues with singing. Then they said among the nations, The Lord has done great things for them.”

5 Promises To Make You Shout!

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in RichThoughts

To say that we live in a negative society would be a gross understatement of the facts.

The world is filled with negativity.  If you doubt it. . .just wait. . .the news media will make sure you realize just how negative things are.

I’m sure you probably encounter negative people in your workplace and at church.

Yes, even the House of God has some nattering nabobs of negativism.

I deal with negative people each day. . .on a variety of levels. . .some upset . . . some confused. . .why there situation isn’t better than it is.

Just doing business requires hearing from disgruntled people.

Yes, these are tough days and many of listeners are struggling.

7 Characteristics Of An Unmistakable Commitment

Written by Bev Herring. Posted in RichThoughts

Have you ever asked yourself:

What’s my real commitment to the Word of God?

Does my commitment tend to change depending upon good times and bad times?

How firm is my commitment to the Word and God’s promises?

We can all praise God that He is definitely committed to us for the long haul.

1 Chronicles 16:15 in the New Living Translation says:

“Remember his covenant forever— the commitment he made to a thousand generations.”

When we commit to Him. . .He commits to us and supernatural manifestation takes place.

John 6:29 in the Message Bible says:

9 Things I Learned From A Sick Woman

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in RichThoughts

Knowledge surrounds us.  It’s at our fingertips.  I have a wonderful set of the Encyclopedia Britannica but my smart phone and other electronic toys makes the encyclopedias a relic of the past.

Each moment of our day holds the potential for learning.  But we must reach out to receive it.

Wisdom and knowledge are both at our finger tips but we overlook the value to settle for the mundane or the latest television program.

In fact, way too often we ignore the greatest source of wisdom the world has ever known for the ‘has been’ or ‘never will be’ options.

While wisdom and knowledge are everywhere. . .you can learn something from everybody.  In fact, I learned nine valuable lessons from a sick woman.

This lady’s story is in Mark 5 where it’s so clearly and intimately told that I feel as though I know her.  I even mentioned her last week when we were teaching on financial healing.

Here are nine things I learned from a sick lady.

1)            This Lady Needed A Miracle.

I Dare You Seven Ways

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in RichThoughts

When I was in high school. . .I was asked to speak at our local Rotary Club because I was actively involved in politics.

For those who are not familiar with the Rotary Club. . .it’s a service organization like the Lions, the Kiwanis, the Civitans, the Moose, Goose and got loose.  Just kidding about the last two.

Most of these service organizations meet once a week for lunch…hear a speaker and interact with each other.  Before social media…it was a great way to meet leaders in a local community and be involved in local projects.

My visit to the LaGrange, North Carolina Rotary Club was a wonderful experience.  I was given a book which I still have today. . .somewhere in my collection.

The title was I Dare You written by William H. Danforth of the Nestle Purina fortune.  It helped to stir me outside my comfort zone. . .long before I knew what a comfort zone was.

Turning Adversity And Anger Into Victory

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in RichThoughts

As I was writing this teaching. . .I had just prayed for nearly a thousand prayer requests.  People facing unknown transitions and often difficult choices.

Are you going through a transition yourself?

Perhaps you're going from one job to another … or from having a job to being unemployed?

Does it seem that you're facing difficult problems without any answer seemingly in sight?

If so, this teaching is for you.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING carefully

Do you need God’s IMMEDIATE attention?

As I was praying recently, I felt stirred in my spirit that you and several others need miracle-working power IMMEDIATELY.

The Lord directed me to get this letter to you as quickly as possible.  It will only take you two or three minutes to read and respond.

I believe you’ll find this is just the answer you’ve been praying for.  So find a quiet spot and let the truth of the Word ignite your spirit like it did mine.

7 Traits Of A Finisher

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in RichThoughts

Have you ever started a project, assignment or job with a sudden burst of enthusiasm only to be slowed down by the first obstacle and stopped short of your goal by continual obstacles?

Congratulations, you’re average.  But you don’t have to stay that way.  Those who rise above the crowd are the ones who go the extra mile while others are relaxing in front of the TV.

The strength of a person’s character and drive to success is determined by whether or not they can finish what they started.

Employees who complete the task are more highly valued than those who, though they make a valiant effort, nevertheless, fail to complete the project.

The One by whom our every effort, thought and action should be measured. . . was a finisher.  Should we be any less?

John 4:34 in the New Living Translation says:

“Then Jesus explained: “My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work.”

Not only was Jesus a finisher but he made us that way as well.

Access To An Unlimited Treasury

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in RichThoughts

Do you feel like shouting?   You will after reading Deuteronomy 28:12-13 in the Amplified Bible which says:

The Lord shall open to you His good treasury, the heavens, to give the rain of your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hands; and you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrowAnd the Lord shall make you the head, and not the tail; and you shall be above only, and you shall not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you this day and are watchful to do them.”

These two verses contain seven priceless benefits. . .giving you unlimited access to the greatest treasure ever.

This unlimited treasury is available to every believer who follows two simple instructions.  Here are the seven priceless benefits.

1.         You have unlimited access to the treasures of heaven.

Let me put it another way. . .your heavenly treasure has more wealth than King Solomon, King Midas and the world’s 1,645 billionaires combined and tripled.  In fact, all that accumulated wealth would just be chump change when compared to the treasury in heaven to which you have unlimited access.

As I started writing this teaching. . .I was led to Genesis 28:12 which says:
