You Get Better At It Every Day

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in RichThoughts

God loves it when we pull close to Him. . .He wants us reading and obeying His Word.

He wants us moving from glory to glory in His marvelous image.  During a recent Rich Thoughts for Breakfast we taught from Revelation 2:29 in the Message Bible.  The Lord used that scripture to show me seven keys of getting better in our spiritual walk every day.

Now, He directed me to put some meat on the bones of the seven points and share it with our world-wide Internet audience on Sunday Night LIVE.

But first, the letter to the church at Thyatira is the LONGEST of the seven letters, but was written to the smallest and seemingly least important of the seven cities. The point is God cares about each and every one of us.  No one is ever left out.

Here’s our primary scripture for this teaching.

Revelation 2:19 in the Message Bible says:

7 Action Steps To Ignite Your Destiny

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in Life Strategies

What we’re thinking, speaking and planning will never become a reality until we actually act on what we’ve been thinking, speaking and planning.

Here are seven actions to ignite your destiny.

Action # 1     Think about something. . .good.

Proverbs 23:7 says:

“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he. . .”

Have you ever had someone. . .perhaps your spouse or best friend. . .ask you what you were thinking about. . .only to say “nothing.”

First off, thinking about nothing is not humanly possible.

Second, if it were possible. . .it would be an ignorant. . .if not, unwise thing to do.

Third, let’s never waste time thinking about nothing.

Thinking about nothing. . .is both bad and sad. . because you’ll never know when we’re through thinking about nothing.

Watch Out For Trick Questions

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in Life Strategies

I think there’s one thing we can all agree on.  The devil is a liar.  He’s deceitful and he’d love to cause havoc in your life.

John 8:44 in the Classic Amplified Bible says:

“. . .because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a falsehood, he speaks what is natural to him, for he is a liar [himself] and the father of lies and of all that is false.”

Yes, the devil is a liar but he is also very tricky.

He loves word games.

He loves to pose deceitful questions.

This is nothing new.  He did it to Jesus.

Matthew 4:3 in the King James Versions says:

Alive With Resurrection Power

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in RichThoughts

One of my favorite Easter songs is “He’s Alive” by Ray Boltz. It’s a powerful narrative of the Resurrection and it always gives me glory bumps.

The chorus says:

He's alive, He's alive

He's alive and I'm forgiven

Heaven's gates are open wide

Can somebody say Hallelujah!!!

1 Corinthians 15:20-22 says:

“But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.  For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.  For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.”

As I was meditating on this scripture. . .I felt the Lord leading me to write on this passage.   At first, I wasn’t sure exactly what he wanted me to write about.

Did He want me to write about how Resurrection Sunday should be celebrated 52 weeks a year?

It's Never Too Late

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in Life Strategies

Nearly five years ago my fine wife Bev and I attended my high school reunion.

I was amazed that we were the only ones not aging.

Laughing.  I’m just kidding.

Probably 90% of those present were retired.  I’m listening to them and wondering how much golf can you play. . .how many fish can you catch. . .how many exercise classes can you attend in one week?

Don’t get me wrong. . .I’m not really against any of those things but I am against rigor mortis of the mind. . .I can’t ignore the assignment God has given me.

Yes, we like to take trips. . .my fine wife is my best friend and she’s the one I want to be with.

However, as long as I have breath in my body I will be glorifying God, terrifying the devil and setting the financial captives free from the bondage of debt and poor thinking.

It’s important to realize that we’re never too old to fulfill God’s destiny for us. It’s an ongoing process … one you never retire from.

I’m not suggesting that we work the rest of our lives but I am encouraging each of us. . .to fulfill God’s assignment for us.

7 Keys To Overcome The Charlie Brown Complex

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in RichThoughts

Do you want to be an effective witness for the Lord?  Of course, you do.

So what’s the key?

Handing out tracts in the workplace or leaving them wedged in the mirrors of public restrooms.  Maybe for some.

How about telling people how Jesus has changed your life?  Okay, we’re on the right track.

What about when you laugh and sing praises to our Lord?

Can that be an effective witness for the Lord?

Yes, according to Psalm 126:2 in the Classic Amplified Bible which says:

“Then were our mouths filled with laughter, and our tongues with singing. Then they said among the nations, The Lord has done great things for them.”

Satanic Strategies Defeated

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in Life Strategies

In political campaigns opposing candidates and their staffs work non-stop trying to figure out how to defeat the other person.

They spend an inordinate amount of time and money trying to locate and exploit any weaknesses personal or political.

We’d like to think campaigns spend more time on how to get their message across to the voters but sadly. . .that’s just not the case.

The sad reality is that more people vote against a candidate than they do for a candidate.   So campaigns work round the clock creating a plan to take out the other candidate or down to defeat.

Make no mistake about it. . .they have a plan. . .and it’s getting you. . .the voter to believe their talking points.

Well, Hell has a plan for you as well.  Hell’s plan is to render you ineffective for service to the Kingdom of God.

And yes, the devil and his demon hordes work round the clock to trip you up.

5 Promises To Make You Shout!

To say that we live in a negative society would be a gross understatement of the facts.

The world is filled with negativity.  If you doubt it. . .just wait. . .the news media will make sure you realize just how negative things are.

I’m sure you probably encounter negative people in your workplace and at church.

Yes, even the House of God has some nattering nabobs of negativism.

I deal with negative people each day. . .on a variety of levels. . .some upset . . . some confused. . .why there situation isn’t better than it is.

Just doing business requires hearing from disgruntled people.

Yes, these are tough days and many of listeners are struggling.
