Focus Your Expectation With Confidence

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in Life Strategies

Focus your expectation with confidence in the Lord.

When we focus on the Word. . .we position ourselves for victory over incredible circumstances.

Matthew 14:28-29 in the Amplified Bible says:

“And Peter answered Him, Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.  He said, Come! So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water, and he came toward Jesus.”

The scripture doesn’t say Peter took a step or two and began to sink. It says he walked.  How far did he walk. . .I don’t know?  But it had to be some distance from the boat.

Peter focused on Jesus. . .which meant He was focusing on the Word of Jesus.

Jesus is the Word (John 1:1-3).  As long as Peter focused on the Word . .  . there was no limitation to what he could achieve. . .even walking on the water.  But. . .

Matthew 14:30 in the Amplified Bible says:

Believing When You See Nothing

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in Life Strategies

Believing is easy when things are good.

The challenge comes as difficulties mount.

When our bank account is full, our hearts are usually filled with praise.  Notice I said “usually filled.”

When we have "more month than money". . .we’ll things are a bit different . . . since we’re not seeing the blessings.

John 20:24-25 in the New King James Version says:

“Now Thomas, called the Twin, one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came.  25 The other disciples therefore said to him, “We have seen the Lord.”

The 12 were not always giants of faith.

Remember they, too, were overwhelmed by doubt when Jesus was crucified and buried.

In verse 24, testifying that Jesus was alive was easy for them.  They had the advantage of having seen the already resurrected Lord.

John 20:25 in the New King James Version says:

“So he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.”

Your Future Will Be Better Than Your Past

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in Life Strategies

God stirred something both amazingly comforting and powerful in me last night.  I suggest you write it down.

"Your future will be better than your past."

Personalize it.

“<<Your Name>>’s future will be better than your past."

Job 8:7 in the Contemporary English Version confirms in scripture the word that I was given.

“Your future will be brighter by far than your past.”

Can somebody say “Hallelujah!!”

Those eight words resonated in my spirit and have constantly been on my mind since that moment.  Here are seven things which will make your future better than your past.

1)  I Will Continue To Look Unto Him.

Destined For Manifest Victory

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in Life Strategies

Heaven is a place that words cannot describe.

I have a really good friend, Dr. Roberts Liardon, the author of the God’s Generals series who went to heaven at the age of 8.  The things he shared in his book “I Saw Heaven” are amazing and thought-provoking.

I’m sure we’re all looking forward to spending an eternity in heaven.  I’m excited about heaven but frankly I’m not ready to go yet…I still have a God-given vision to fulfill.

But one day. . .someday soon. . .in the twinkling of an eye. . .I’ll be gone.

I’m excited because I’ve got a first class ticket.  Can you imagine the view we’ll have as we’re going up?

I must admit that I might even look around to see who’s going up with me and maybe who’s not.

Should I die before the rapture. . .talk about a glorious transition.

I might also tell you that I’m excited about the welcoming committee.  No doubt, friends and family members who’ve gone on before. . .will be waiting.

Prosperity, Problems And Praise

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in Life Strategies

Prosperity tested my focus.

Poverty distorted my focus.

Prosperity proved my theology.

Poverty challenged my theology.

Nothing has moved me away from God.

Different seasons reveal different information.

Many say we learn nothing about ourselves during good times.

Honestly, I disagree.  I believe we can gather personal insight during both good and bad times.

Good times revealed my appreciation for the goodness of God.

God Is Not Tired Today

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in Life Strategies

I’m going to make a statement that’s not a major revelation but it’s an absolute fact we can all agree on.

Life can wear you down.

I understand being bone tired.

But I have never felt so tired that I wouldn’t make every effort to turn things around.

The Holy Spirit becomes my Energizer Bunny renewing my mind, refreshing my strength and re-invigorating my day.

I have fought issues and things that seemed unchanging. . .but they were NOT.

God alone can be described as unchanging.

Malachi 3:6 in the King James Version says:

“For I am the Lord, I change not. . .”

Why I Have Not Always Prospered?

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in Life Strategies

Prosperity is God’s plan for His people.

There has never been a doubt in my mind about this.

But, there was one time in my life. . .where I bought into the argument that if prosperity was right . . . why are there so many poor people in third world countries.

Then I came to understand that most of those countries have a heritage of voodoo, pagan or occult practices.

Heritage makes a difference.  When good seed is sown … even in a nation … the nation reaps the benefits.  These nations were not Christian and neither do they have a legacy of faith.

When I began writing this teaching I had something totally different in mind.  But, the Holy Spirit arrested my attention...and I hope the same happens with you.

Here are seven keys to a major reason some people don’t prosper.

1.       Make things right with them.

Walking Through A Dry Place

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in Life Strategies

Have you ever driven through a dense fog?

My fine wife, Bev, and I have driven through intense fog in the mountains of West Virginia with snow all over the ground and also across the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco when the fog was rolling in.

It can make you a bit nervous and uneasy.  Sometimes you can’t even see beyond the hood of your car. . .if that.

The fog seems to cover your car on every side. . .making it difficult, if not impossible, to see where you’re going.

I feel discouragement has descended upon this nation like a dense fog.

Economic issues abound.  Bad news compounds itself.

Some believers cannot see themselves overcoming their current dilemmas.

I am not here to say problems do not exist.

I am here to declare God is greater than whatever problem you’re facing.

Isaiah 35:3 in the New King James Version says:

You Are SOMEBODY. . .SPECIAL

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in Life Strategies

Yes, you are somebody special.

Even if no one ever said those words to you...it doesn't minimize the fact that you are SOMEBODY special.  God makes no mistakes…no one got here by accident.

As you read this blog. . .put aside any negative comments about yourself from the past.

Just focus on the fact that you are. . .somebody special.

1 Thessalonians 4:4 in the Amplified Bible, Classic Edition says:

"[O] brethren beloved by God, we recognize and know that He has selected (chosen) you."

Of all the people currently drawing a breath on planet earth. . .God, the Master of the Universe. . .has chosen you.

The next two verses . . .will and should make you SHOUT. . .glory Hallelujah!!
