7 Ways To Take Control Of Your Life

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in RichThoughts

Time is the currency of your life. . .spend it wisely.

Here is a simple illustration I’ve used several times to prove your time is the currency of your life.

After you work forty hours for your employer, he doesn’t pay you out of the goodness of his heart. He pays you in exchange for the forty hours of your life.

In other words, the amount of money you receive in your paycheck replaces the amount of your life you gave to your employer.

Think of it this way. You don’t purchase an automobile with little slips of paper called “money.” No, you actually buy it with your life – that is, the amount of your life you spend earning the money to pay for your automobile. The same thing is true with your house, your clothing, and everything else you purchase. It all comes through the exchange of your life for money.

I Want My Children To Get It

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in Life Strategies

This is probably one of the most unusual teachings I’ve ever done.

I’ve done teachings with 23 points but I’ve never taught a lesson where I quoted one verse twenty—three times in different translations.

When I asked God if He was sure about this instruction . . . He said simply:

“I want my children to get it.”

7 Blessing Burgulars To Avoid

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in RichThoughts

A few days ago, I was riding to the office with a couple of friends.  We stopped at Bojangles, my fast food restaurant of choice.

As a seed of appreciation for their kindness in providing transportation for the day. . .I indicated I wanted to buy breakfast for them.

One of the two said “No, thank you.”

This dear friend and co-laborer for the Kingdom told me she had breakfast at the office.

However, I suspect she didn’t want me to spend any money on her as she felt it wasn’t necessary for picking me up on their way to the office.

10 Excuses God Will Never Accept

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in RichThoughts

Hebrews 12:12-13 in the Message Bible says:

So don't sit around on your hands! No more dragging your feet! Clear the path for long-distance runners so no one will trip and fall, so no one will step in a hole and sprain an ankle. Help each other out. And run for it!”

I started wondering why people sit on their hands and drag their feet….and realized it happens when people make excuses.

Believe me, I’ve heard all of the excuses … and some that would make you laugh if you didn’t know the person speaking the words was serious.

I believe if I set my mind to it…I could come up with some of the greatest excuses in the world.

But the real question is what does the greatest book ever written have to say about excuses.

Make The Most Of Every Opportunity You Get

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in Things to Know

Ephesians 5:11-16 in the Message Bible:

“Don't waste your time on useless work, mere busywork, the barren pursuits of darkness. Expose these things for the sham they are. It's a scandal when people waste their lives on things they must do in the darkness where no one will see. Rip the cover off those frauds and see how attractive they look in the light of Christ.

“Wake up from your sleep, Climb out of your coffins; Christ will show you the light!  So watch your step. Use your head. Make the most of every chance you get. These are desperate times!” Ephesians 5:11-16 MSG

The New Living Translation tells us in verse 16 to make the most of every opportunity we get.

Done And Done

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in RichThoughts

One of the most remarkable women of faith we’ve ever met. . .frequently says “done and done” when referring to the promises of God being manifested in her life.

Over the past few years, this incredibly anointed businesswoman has been attacked by the hordes of hell. . .but she has not flinched in her faith or wavered in her beliefs.

Any person with lesser faith. . .might have given up. . .but not this woman.

As she prays for breakthroughs. . .for answers. . .for financial deliverance. . .for the blessing flow. . .she will simply text me “done and done.”

The phrase stirs an image of steadfast faith. . .in the midst of seemingly impossible circumstances.  I was so stirred that I felt led to write about done and done.

7 Scriptural Reasons Why You Should Smile

Written by Harold Herring. Posted in Things to Know

Over the years, I've heard people say that if you want to be lazy you need to learn to smile as it takes less muscles than to frown.

I can give you seven scriptural reasons why you should smile.

# 1       You’re uglier when you frown.

I have no scriptural basis for this reason. . .just the opinion of someone who has literally met hundreds of thousands of people in his life.
